Is making the rounds on my FB today.

Now I know nestle are very controversial on here and more people are very upset that SMA have changed their ingredients without warning but surely there is no need to ban the product.

I know it's scary when your child is ill especially if you don't know why.

But I can't see how she can say that SMA are selling poison because baby food is one of the most regulated products on the market.

It's like saying well I reacted to kiwi and so did these other people we found so I need to ban it because it's poison.

Yes? No?

She"s probably still rather upset and not thinking straight, which would account for the style of writing.

It's easier to blame the manufacturer, than realise your baby has an intolerance, something which might make future life difficult, and also that you didn't spot it quicker. Because even though she missed it on the packaging, there has been plenty on social media in the month or so since the change - threads on Netmums for example, and lots of articles on parenting sites. And vegetarian ones, questioning if the new ingredient (fish oils) can be consumed by veggie babies.

I don't think this petition will get anywhere, because it's so difficult to read (long solid text) and as others have said, isn't really clear enough. Because I can't tell if she'd been using SMA before and then new package and problems, or if she was beginning combined feeding for the first time and her baby might have reacted to any modified cow's milk.

I note the idea that a particular brand is 'next best thing' still has traction, even though all cow based formula is much the same.

mishmash1979 · 01/04/2016 08:51

I took codeine for the first (and last) time at my wedding 16 years ago and literally do not remember any of the wedding or my wedding night; it still really upsets me. Luckily nobody could tell how off my face I was but I have never taken it since; scary stuff to take especially if u have kids to look after!

mishmash1979 · 01/04/2016 08:52

Am a bit baffled by the temperature thing as my son has lots of severe allergies and a temperature features knowone on the vast amounts of info I have read on the subject

My DS couldn't take to formula ..It made him sick... They thought he had milk intolerance... I don't think he did but continued b.feeding...I don't for one minute think because it didn't suit my DS doesn't mean it should be banned..

Ice cream should be banned Shock

LettingAgentNightmare · 01/04/2016 08:55

I'm allergic to penicillin, loads of things contain it, so they should all be banned. Screw you all and your need for antibiotics.

ijustwannadance · 01/04/2016 08:59

Me too Letting

I can't take ibuprofen either.

Birnamwood · 01/04/2016 09:11

She said the child had had tests etc and they had come back as her having gastroenteritis.

Usually that is caused by a bug/virus/fungus - before she starts shouting and petitioning against SMA maybe she should look at her sterilising regime...

Sometimesithinkimbonkers · 01/04/2016 09:13

I saw this today and thought 'another one has fallen out of the knobhead tree!!!'

Unless it's an April Fool!!

I have heard people say their kids reacted badly to cow & gate but are fine with Aptamil!
When we had the milk shortage a few years ago DS was still having Aptamil and he has real oral aversions. Couldn't change milk he would taste the change and then not drink the milk ( he was 4 at this stage and it was the only thing keeping him alive... He didn't eat) I phoned Milupa and asked could they send me some before they run out ( you could only buy 2 at a time ) they confirmed that Aptamil and C&g are exactly the same formula, made in the same vat and put into different tins!

I would like to ban Autism please .... It reacts really badly with my son !!!

MrsJayy · 01/04/2016 09:14

I think she is making a right show of herself a gastro bug isnt poisoning by formula

Birdsgottafly · 01/04/2016 09:16

Ridiculous, but the petition against the new Housing Bill, underneath is worth signing.

BurstBees · 01/04/2016 09:23

I'd be more worried that there are supposedly doctors who are completely baffled by a sick child who ingests only formula.

Justanotherlurker · 01/04/2016 09:27

All Change.org petitions are silly, they hold about as much weight as a fart in a colander and are the epitome of slactivism

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 01/04/2016 09:29

Reading that petition has made my eyes bleed. Swelt? WTF? I hope SMA take her down.

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 01/04/2016 09:30
