To wonder about Fireman Sam's love life

His much less hot brother (the fisherman) has a lovely wife and kids, but Sam is single and no hint of a relationship.

Is he gay and in a relationship with Tom Thomas?

Is he straight and a total player, but he keeps it all outside the village because he is a commitment phobe?

There is definitely no flirtation with Penny. Maybe she is married but doesn't live in the village so we never meet her husband.

And whatever happened to Bella Lasagne? She seems to have disappeared in this DVD DS is making me watch and no one ever mentions her.

They are on cartoonito.

I noticed when my kids were still young enough to watch it, that almost all the kids in Greendale have red hair. Like Postman Pat.

Evidence he's sticking more than just letters through postboxes?

VoldysGoneMouldy · 02/04/2016 13:48

I reckon he's just too much of a narcissist to ever have a relationship that works. First date, if a bloke turned up in their uniform and relayed how many cats they'd saved that week, you'd let them off. Second date? Nope.

Voldys I don't know he and Tom are very similar, they might appreciate each others stories Wink
And SO Steele is so busy doing the village, that he hasn't got time to date.

Joff - are you suggesting that fireman SAm has visited (and fathered children) in Greendale, and then scarpered back to Pontypandy?

Sounds like we need Jeremy Kyle to sort the mess out, and to do a Dna test!

JoffreyBaratheon · 02/04/2016 22:23

I don't know much about Fireman Sam - luckily my kids never liked him!

Postman Pat is definitely upto something, though.

But if you watch the movie- PP is settled down and a married dad, desperate to take his wife to Italy and his son does not have red hair....

HairySubject · 03/04/2016 13:01

OK I woke up with a new theory this morning.

Norman's dad was in a fire, it was Sam's day off and he had no uniform on. By the time he had got his uniform on it was too late to save Norman's dad.
Sam had a break down and vowed never to take off his uniform again and that's why he is so lenient with Norman, because he feels responsible for him being fatherless.
No one ever mentions it for fear of tipping Sam over the edge and into break down again.

incywincybitofa · 03/04/2016 16:12

It is a good theory, but if it's true why is it Dillys bears no animosity towards Sam? Unless of course she hated Norman's dad and maybe started the fire herself to be free to chase Trevor....

JoffreyBaratheon · 04/04/2016 11:17

incy, Pat's 'son' is not his son. Mrs Pat decided what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Etc.

Cue Eastenders credits.

incywincybitofa · 04/04/2016 12:26

So is Pat's son- Sam's son? That could work, Mrs P got knocked up on their honeymoon in Pontypandy.
Pat suspects something, because he had the snip after realizing how many red headed kids there were in his village....

My kids are wondering why I keep wanting to watch Postman Pat and Fireman Sam now. Grin
