To wonder about Fireman Sam's love life

His much less hot brother (the fisherman) has a lovely wife and kids, but Sam is single and no hint of a relationship.

Is he gay and in a relationship with Tom Thomas?

Is he straight and a total player, but he keeps it all outside the village because he is a commitment phobe?

There is definitely no flirtation with Penny. Maybe she is married but doesn't live in the village so we never meet her husband.

And whatever happened to Bella Lasagne? She seems to have disappeared in this DVD DS is making me watch and no one ever mentions her.

Maybe the fact that he wears his uniform even on his days off puts off the women!

Oh I don't know - a lot of women like a man in uniform. But yes, he is insufferably pompous.

Oh, he definitely has at least one checked shirt. (Or maybe it is Toms? Maybe there is some thing between them?)

also have a Sam obsessed toddler.

1950's mum the day off uniform wearing annoys dh!

Sam is such a glory boy. Makes the other rescuers look so inept. I'd love to see him fuck up just once like a normal person

Penny and Elvis are a couple, definitely. Sam is a bit of an engima, he might be gay and in the closet.

Penny and Elvis? Pelvis?

Maybe he's going out with the Canadian man, they would be a lovely couple.

He has a check shirt aswell as his uniform? Well that sounds like a good start for a village people tribute act.

Sam used to play the field, but one night with Dilys left him contentedly asexual.

Sadly that night led to that crap bag Norman.

Now he's working day and night to pay the child maintenance bills.

Inbreeding, I suspect that half of pontypandy would fail that blood test.

Me and DP have a theory that Sam and Dilys hooked up once, like a v drunken one night stand, and Norman was the result.
They have never acknowledged it as Dilys is in love with Trevor, and she want's to keep it secret.
I suspect D has decided she will never tell Norman who his father is, but maybe on some level he knows.

I think Penny sneaks off to the nearest large town at night and is secretly a booze hound party animal.

I'm not over invested in the weird lives of childrens TV characters, oh no!! Grin

Ha ha x post with Keletubbie
Great minds etc etc Grin

Also, is Bella really back?
She was an awful stereotype!

And yes Sam's brother is the fisherman, his wife annoys the bloody hell out of me though. Far too airey fairy!

Maybe there needs to be a Fireman Sam late episode ala Hollyoaks so we can get a clearer idea of what Fireman Sam gets upto in his spare time. Maybe he has a long distance girlfriend who he only sees at weekends?

Been years since I had to watch them but I recall there was an episode where I distinctly saw flirting between Sam and his brother's hippy wife. I always assumed there was unrequited love there and she'd married the 'wrong' brother.

I always thought Bronwyn was Sam's sister- I had no idea Charlie might be his brother.
And now that you have all introduced Sam as being Norman's dad I will never think of the dead beat hero in the same way again.

I actually like Norman- I think he needs some attention and a couple of normal friends, instead of the goody goody friends he has.

I think Norman knows Sam is his dad but he's very emotionally unavailable and that's why Norman acts out so much - to get his attention.

To be fair, if they didn't have so many accidents I'm sure the Pontypandy fire services would be cut for 'budget reasons' so actually he's keeping them in a job...

There's something I quite like about Norman too. Although he's a little shit he's quick to apologise when he's fucked up again

Charlie the fisherman is definitely Sam's brother - there are several episodes and/or crappy mini-stories in the Fireman Sam comic where poor Charlie agonises about 'not being a hero' like his brother, before calling him about 2.1 seconds after some completely non-Fire Service-related incident. On the fortunately rare occasions my son now watches it, I find myself shouting 'Call the COASTGUARD! You can get them via 999 too! Steal some glory from that attention-hogger Sam for god's sake!'

I have always assumed the original storyboarders were having a sly joke among themselves by making Sam and that dastardly little Norman the only two redheads in the village, but giving Dilys a violent (menopausal? How old is Dilys?) crush on Trevor. Who was some kind of volunteer extra fireman in early series, but that seems to have been forgotten more recently, possibly because it denied Sam his full glory.

In my mental universe Penny is the kind of cool, sporty blonde lesbian the straightest of Pontypandy women have occasional half-unconscious crushes on (here's looking at you, Helen Flood, especially when you and Penny got lost in the fog together on Pontypandy Mountain!) Also Tom Thomas and Moose are having a kind of agonised-but-hot macho love affair, conducted Brokeback-Mountain style between the outdoor activity centre and the helipad, possibly with Gareth the train driver averting his binoculars from time to time...

Sam does not have a sexuality, he's too smug. If you took off his trousers, he would look like Barbie's Ken. He conceived Norman via mindwaves...

YY to Tom and Moose being all Brokeback Mountain.

No idea why they have brought Bella back. The new characters are crap. Yet another incompetent man (Brummie dad to girl in wheelchair) who is as useless as mike flood. Helen should LTB.
I hate Bronwyn too.

In my head, Sam is an arsonist/psycho who burned down his family home as a child. Killing his parents but got charlie out so he would look like a hero.

Isn't Elvis station officer Steele's illegitimate love child? Grin

Brummie Dad is annoying I have only seen him once- DD not as keen on FS as her brother was.

Sam's chin is unfeasibly large, I think that's linked to testosterone levels. Just saying.
