To wonder about Fireman Sam's love life

His much less hot brother (the fisherman) has a lovely wife and kids, but Sam is single and no hint of a relationship.

Is he gay and in a relationship with Tom Thomas?

Is he straight and a total player, but he keeps it all outside the village because he is a commitment phobe?

There is definitely no flirtation with Penny. Maybe she is married but doesn't live in the village so we never meet her husband.

And whatever happened to Bella Lasagne? She seems to have disappeared in this DVD DS is making me watch and no one ever mentions her.

Sam is definitely Norman Prices dad, they are the only 2 with red hair and he leaves the little rogue away with everything.
DEFINITELY.

My dad wouldn't have let me get away with half the stuff Norman does.

But yes it does seem to looking like Sam is the equivalent of the good old fashioned milkman.

Can you imagine what Sam would be like in bed? He'd narrate you ponderously through the whole thing, as if he was installing a new fire alarm. 'I'm now inserting the old penis into the vagina. You'll be finding that very satisfying now. Now a twiddle of the old nipples, just to be on the safe side. Now I'm going to move. Brace. It should click when it's in the right place. Or maybe that's fire alarms...'

He's shagging Dilys and Norman is his son. They're the only gingers in Pontypandy. He's also very lenient with the little shit

This made me lol!! I thought Dilys was having it off with Trevor??

Dilys has obviously moved on-and if she prefers Trevor to Sam then he must be shockingly bad with his hose in the bedroom.

I suppose though it is a small village- with only one bus service what is a girl to do? It's Fireman Sam or Trevor

I always thought Sam was with Tom whilst watching it with DS (he's 9 now). Dear God I hope current little tadpole doesn't go thru a FS phase!!!!Grin

You may be on to something about Tom and Sam

Tbh the thing that bothers me most, is how can anyone afford to live in ponty pandy. The house insurance must be rediculous!
And then there's the fact that elvis is the most incompetent firemen there is...
And Sam is definitely Normans dad I'm sure, but maybe he's not involved because he's gay, and dylis won't except it? Even though she's certainly sleeping with Trevor!

I suppose there is a family resemblance in the eyes and the nose

I have it on good authority that Fireman Sam was Dilys' sperm donor and Norman is the red headed result.

I may have made this up

This thread is hilarious Grin I'm glad there are so many people who are on my wavelength. Who needs book clubs when you have the rich seam of pre-schooler TV to analyse?

I think maybe station officer Steel is actually Norman's Dad. He couldn't ever admit to it because he is married, so only he and Dilys know. And possibly Sam. THAT'S why Norman gets away with so much. He does do fatherly things (paper aeroplanes) with Norman. And you have to admit Dilys does seem to like an older gentleman...

I would love it if Fireman Sam came out, that would be genius. Love the idea of Penny as a booze hound in her days off. I think she definitely escapes to the nearest large town to have a bit of a private life, she can't be doing with all the gossiping and inbreeding in Pontypandy.

There really are (or were) people like Bella lasagne in South Wales. There was a big Italian immigration to the valleys at some point (60s?) and when I was growing up I knew a few older Italian ladies who had been there for decades but still sounded and felt themselves to be very very Italian. They usually ran a cafe or a sweetshop. I guess they are all probably retired by now.

Now you have me wondering if SO Steele got Fireman Sam's mum knocked up, which is why he looks NOTHING like his brother....

Omg yes!
Fireman Sam and Norman are BROTHERS!

Now that'll be why SO Steele and Fireman Sam are so tolerant of the little rascal Wink
Issue solved- SO Steele is the rampant sex beast of Pontypandy and half the kids in the village are his.

One New Year's Eve there was a party at the fire station, everyone got rather drunk, Dylis was particularly flirtatious with all the men of pontypandy.

Nine months later Norman was born. No one speaks of that night but I think most people suspects that Sam is the daddy.

Norman is clearly desperate for Sam to come out and accept him as his own. There is a lot of fire related attention seeking behaviour going on with Norman.

But my biggest question about pontypandy is why do they spend so much of their council tax on fire, sea and mountain rescue that they can't afford any police or teachers? Perhaps if those kids spent more time in school they would cause a lot less trouble around the village.

Clever pans - in the small uni, town I went to, there was a cafe exactly how you described it, run by Italiens, with an Italien name.

I prefer the old look Fireman Sam.

My dc's are now teens, but I think I have to turn to CBeebies to check all the theories out!

My current toddler only watches Netflix- so unfortunately I wont be able to sit through episodes trying to decipher what the locals have been up to- but I am loving the idea Fireman Sam and Naughty Norman are brothers, it all fits I don't know why it hasn't been thought of before Grin

I want to know who lives in all the other houses in Pontypandy? It seems to be a fairly large village but there's only about 6 children! And when it was threatened by the Great Fire and they had to evacuate onto a boat, they seemed to forget half the characters, never mind the rest of the villagers!

Cydonia maybe it is a closed off community, they never mix because of all the catastrophes that happen, they realize they and their homes are safer if they stay away from the little arsonist and all of his friends....

I always thought Sam was Norman's dad too. I like the idea of him and Tom Thomas being a gay couple though.

You see the more I think about it and I really shouldn't the more convinced I am that SO Steele is the town paramour , Tom and Sam are a secret couple, Sam is Norman's brother and the twins mum Bronwyn has a crush on Sam.
The age gap is better for Dillys and SO Steele than it is for Sam and Dillys

Where are the newest episodes with the return of Bella Lasagna (Lasagne?) available, incidentally?
