AIBU?

To think that these vendors are utter twunts?

I don't think IABU but wanted to vent and ask advice.

Completed on our new house yesterday. Was in London for work so went there today to find that before moving out the vendors have dragged all their old mattresses into the garden (along with some - now smashed - glass items) and set fire to them. I would post pics but I am not clever enough...

I started cleaning up all the other shit they left behind and realized that there was an entire fireplace missing. It's a funky modern ish gas fire thing and I clearly remember it and liked it. Despite ticking the "leaving gas fire" box on the SPIF form they have removed it and replastered the fucking wall. Have just gone back through the estate agents info and the SPIF from the solicitor and there was no mention of them taking it.

I was willing to overlook the massive turd upstairs in the bathroom as an aberration, but I really think they didn't like us! Grin

Anyway I have photographed everything and emailed the solicitor and I know I have legal redress, but AIBU to feel aggrieved that I have to share a planet with these utter cunts? I mean seriously, who does this? I know it's a first world problem and I am lucky to have a house and legs etc, but c'mon - it's really very twattish, no?

The red mist would have descended upon me I'm afraid, sod the 15 ft pink tree and turd, the fireplace being taken would send me fucking nuclear.

Hunt them to the end of the earth OP, via your Solicitor of course!

Gosh, and I thought that old board games and schoolwork from the 80's left in the attic was irritating.

They are fuckers, OP - you have my sympathy

Load the mattress remains, pink tree and turd onto a truck and dump them in their new front garden.

if you can find a forwarding address I'd actually pay money to load up the half burnt mattresses and the turd and make sure they get dumped on their new doorstep.

I'd give them 30 days to replace as seen or you go to small claims.

What cunts.

That trees probably missing from a debenhams crimbo shop display.

Why waste money on removal services? Just drag your unwanted possessions into the garden and burn them with fire instead!

(Thank you all - this thread has been very cathartic and I feel better! Flowers )

Selfish heathens, it amazes me that some people think this kind of behaviour is ok. In years to come you'll laugh about this maybe ThanksWineBrew in the meantime.

Seriously OP, get your Solicitor onto their twatty arses.

They've caused damage to your garden.

Removed a Fireplace without your consent after signing the Fixtures and Fittings form, what about the safety of the chimney breast, was a qualified Tradesman involved in its removal?

This is horrible OP, sorry it's happened to you. They are liable to have emptied the property and grounds and so will have to pay or reimburse you to have it cleared plus any compensation for additional storage of your furniture until you are able to move in.
What cunts!

I just can't get over the utter brass neck of some people! I have pretty shoddy experiences with new houses. First guy left a stash of 70's and 80's porn behind the boiler in the cupboard of his child's room -my mum found it [embarrased] when we were getting a new boiler fitted. I really wanted to get his new address from solicitors and hand deliver them - but apparently that's not allowed!!

My vendor left dog & cat mess on the carpets, loads of pee everywhere (cat &dog- hope it wasn't human)plus cat fleas- the latter I suppose happens when animals leave. I had to throw out the carpets, some floorboards were too pee drenched & had to have them removed & the whole room re-boarded. Plus fumigating to get rid of the fleas. Other than that I really loved the house.

I would sue the arses of these shiteballs then when they don't/won't/can't pay up I'd bankrupt the bastards.

What dick head behaviour. On the plus side, it's likely that they were nightmare neighbours so you're new neighbours will like you by default simply because you're not them.

OMG the burnt mattresses maybe they had bedbugs

Oh wow OP, YANBU. That's not even close to okay.

Hope you get it resolved soon, and that you are very happy in your new home.

We have been in ours for many years, despite the bizarre/dodgy DIY and junk left by our vendors. For example, they had also taken the gas fire, so we needed to get a new one fitted. They hadn't made the gas supply safe, and when the workmen opened up the chimney, they found that the lintel had been replaced with a very thin sheet of plywood, and the bricks were starting to come loose...

Good news is that they are apparently property developers.

I really feel sorry for you op. Definitely lodge it with your solicitor, but i would probably write it off as people like this are always difficult to get anything out of unless you resort to stand over tactics.

At my previous property the ex boyfriend of the owners daughter kept coming around and knocking to see if she was home. It took me answering the door about 10 times over a fortnight before he believed she was finally gone.

I'm glad you posted a picture of the burned mattress as I couldn't believe no one had mentioned it before that point!

Do not let these fucks get away with this!

ShockAngry at everything -the burnt pile of mattress and crap is just awful! I would be absolutely seething. I thought it was bad when my mum and dad moved and the vendor left a garden brimming with dog shit and floors so dirty that you literally stuck to them (like a cheap 90s nightclub). Do you have their forwarding address? I would be SO tempted to load up a truck with everything and dump it on the it front lawn at 2am so they woke up to it the next day. More sensibly, going through the agent and solicitor is absolutely the right thing to do and I hope they have to pay for damages, the fireplace etc. Dirty fuckers. Good luck, I hope you can enjoy your new home soon Flowers
