To think that little bow in the middle of your bra is condescending

I got two new nursing bras today and noticed they both had little ribbon type bows in the centre cleavage.. I thought why on earth do I need a small bow between my boobs? Went to check all my other bras and every single one (even the most unsexy utilitarian bra) has a bow. Aibu to think a grown woman does not need a ribbon bow between her breasts? Or have I got too much time on my hands?!

ROFL. Condescending? For Christ's sake. None of my bras have bows - it's a matter of taste surely?

Hmm, but now you mention it, the lace my knickers are made out of is incredibly patronising.

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/03/2016 09:43

I'm not sure condescending is the right word...

But I hate bows and frills and pointless buttons and glitter in my clothes. Just because of my taste.

Sparklingbrook · 30/03/2016 09:47

I just don't buy clothes/underwear with stuff on that I don't like. It's quite a good system.

My next nightdress will be pocket free. Grin

I love this thread Grin

It's there so you don't forget you're a girl. Obviously.

To the poster who wanted to know what to do with her jar of bows: You're supposed to go around with a jar of vaseline sticking them to baby girls' heads lest anyone mistake them for male.

Sparklingbrook · 30/03/2016 09:52

I remember I am a girl because I am wearing a bra. Grin

SlinkyVagabond · 30/03/2016 10:18

Ive just checked, no bow on my wonder bra. However the pearl drop thing is sneering at me.

uglyswan · 30/03/2016 13:02

YANBU. Condescending little fuckers. "Here's a little bow for you. Bitchez love bows". Off to embroider anarchy symbols on all (well, both of) my bras now.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 30/03/2016 18:54

This thread is messing with my brain Grin

I now like the bows in a way I never have (even noticed) before...

Now they remind of this thread and I have a flash of humor and dare I say it, sisterhood for those women with the smart one liners and panache.

Oh and ability to ignore with grace the Land of Po which occasionally comes to visit this thread :)

specialsubject · 30/03/2016 18:59

I don't buy bras with lace, bows, lumpy metal trims or any of the itchy lumpy stuff. Not because I'm upset by the idea of the bow, but because it shows through a t-shirt.

this means I don't have many bras, as there isn't a lot of choice if you don't want the above.

SecretWitch · 30/03/2016 19:04

No bows on my bra's, just odd little circles..somewhat like targets. Thanks Bali..

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 30/03/2016 19:04

I don't mind them in bras as they are out of sight. I'd love to be able to buy ballet flat shoes without a bow or flower though, nearly all of them have one or the other and they feel too fussy for me.

badg3r · 30/03/2016 22:39

I FIGURED IT OUT.

On nursing bras in any case, the bow's main purpose seems to be to give DC something to play with towards the end of a feed that's not my other nipple.

pollyblack · 30/03/2016 22:46

YANBU i hate bows on Bras, and agree the bows on ballet flats are horrid too. I pull them off with varying degrees of success.

YolandiFuckinVisser · 30/03/2016 22:50

I just checked, my bra has a mangled bit of cloth on the front that may have been a little bow once upon a time. Never noticed it before. My pants do not have a bow but they do have a picture of a pug wearing glasses and a bow tie on the front which is just as good.

TaraCarter · 30/03/2016 22:55

zzzzz

A bra that does up at the front like a cardi, just for you. [proud]

Re: hankies in night wear pockets, when I have cold I put plus oil on mine, that's what you use a hankie for when you're asleep!

My black nursing bra has a bow, bizarrely the thermal long sleeved tops and long legs I bought a few years ago all have bows. I wastin then and needed layers to keep warm, now I have a layer of post pgegnancy blubber *wistful

Marmite27 · 30/03/2016 22:56

*I was thin

wistful

sigh

SuckingEggs · 30/03/2016 23:04

Fuck's sake...

Elledouble · 30/03/2016 23:22

My nursing bras don't have bows! Blush they are sports bra/crop top type ones and they really are not SUPER sexy.

My partner has a thing for bows. A real Thing. I've got t-shirt with a bow pattern on and he finds it quite erotic (although it does not currently fit me due to aforementioned breastfeeding norks). Maybe it reminds him of underwear and therefore nakedness? Who can say?

Damn it! Well, other suppliers are available for zip-up bras but I cannot offer any promises that they're extensive enough.

albertcampionscat · 31/03/2016 15:35

Bows and lace and sparkles and just general crap. Hate it all. I've taken to living in sports bras.

Beeziekn33ze · 31/03/2016 16:06

In my teens I knew a boy, not a boyf, who claimed he collected them. I just pulled my bow off ( not with him around) and contributed to his collection. I wonder how many he got and what, if anything, he did with them!

squashtastic · 31/03/2016 16:22

I have a little rose Hmm

It is stupid. I don't know why pants and bras can't just be functional. Even the most unsexy bras have a stupid little fancy bow. Why Confused

Lweji · 31/03/2016 16:35

My recent bras don't have little bows. Apart from one, which is lace. I think.

I do have an older one with little bows everywhere.
