Seriously, love has nothing to do with this.

It makes me furiousssssssss when these stalker fuckwits get described like this.

"Cherchez la femme" FUCKING HELL

He's a stalker extraordinaire. I would put money on him having some sort of order on him.

Reports say there are at least 27 people still on the plane.

The person he has named will be going to assist negotiators bring an end to this. She will have information about him that must surely be extremely valuable in working out how to get the remaining people off safely. If one of my family was on that plane, I'd be wanting her to tell negotiators every single damned things she knows about him.

TooGood2BeFalse · 29/03/2016 10:20

Speaking from Larnaca here...yep, he is either an idiot or not very well.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 29/03/2016 10:21

The "There's always a woman" back slapping comedy moment in the press conference was really inappropriate.

HandsomeGroomGiveHerRoom · 29/03/2016 10:22

Yanbu op. Can't say I envy him the time he's going to spend in an Egyptian prison, mind.

VertigoNun · 29/03/2016 10:23

He sounds mentally ill.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 29/03/2016 10:24

He's just exerting his control. I'd not indulge him

Nobody is at risk lweji

There's no suicide belt.

VertigoNun · 29/03/2016 10:24

Is he a refugee too?

AnnPerkins · 29/03/2016 10:26

YANBU

In response to a reporter's question about whether the hijacker was motivated by romance, he laughed and said: "Always there is a woman involved."

So it's the woman's fault then Hmm

curren · 29/03/2016 10:26

He sounds mentally ill.

He may not have hijacked for her. Many people ask to speak to people during the situations, it doesn't follow its for that person.

Oj Simpson wanted to talk to his mum during the slow speed car chase. He didn't run off for his mums attention.

There are few facts so I don't get this thread. He is dangerous, clearly. But there are no facts.

MartinaJ · 29/03/2016 10:27

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement: 'He's not a terrorist, he's an idiot. Terrorists are crazy but they aren't stupid. This guy is,'

Yep, sums it up rather nicely.

givepeasachance · 29/03/2016 10:27

Oj Simpson possibly not the best comparison

OP posts:
MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 29/03/2016 10:30

once she's there and he knows she is there, do you think he's not going to want to see her? Face to face? These back slapping 'there's always a woman I volved' authorities may well just throw her on the plane and leave her to deal with it as she is the one 'who caused all this'

That's why I wouldn't go

curren · 29/03/2016 10:30

Why not?

The assumption from you is that because he is asking for her, he did it for her. In these situations it's not always the person who is asked for that is the motivation behind it.

I am talking about these where people are asking to speak to people.

Clownshoes · 29/03/2016 10:32

The hijacker originally asked to go to Turkey, but was told they didn't have enough fuel so settled on Cyprus, where the ex wife is. So, whatever this is about now, it looks like his original plan did not involve the ex wife?

VertigoNun · 29/03/2016 10:32

Why glorify a terrorist they are the same as this guy?

AuntieStella · 29/03/2016 10:33

There's just been a press conference, and they say there are 7 people remaining on board.

AuntieStella · 29/03/2016 10:59

In the official press conference, the minister has also said that early accounts in the media are totally wrong. The most striking example being that one man 'named locally' as the hijacker has popped up and said, 'no I'm over here not on the plane'. Reports of the letter (that I mentioned earlier) have also been denied.

They also said that no demands have been made.

BillSykesDog · 29/03/2016 11:03

It sounds very much like he's unwell.

EdithWeston · 29/03/2016 11:06

Cypriot media are reporting that he is asking for the release of prisoners in Egypt. No word on where they source that from.

The only accurate information is that there were 55 on the flight, 7 are remaining (4 crew, 3 passengers - nationalities known to the authorities but not being released), and at the time of the press conference (about 20 minutes ago),a minister went on record to say no demands had yet been made. But did say the hijacker asked for the flight to be diverted to either Cyprus or Turkey (which suggests proximity to an individual was not a key concern).

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 29/03/2016 11:06

Why does he sound unwell?

ghostyslovesheep · 29/03/2016 11:07

watching BBC2 with my 7 year old when the man said 'it's all about the woman' and even she had the brain power to say 'it's not the woman's fault mum it's the man on the plane'

YANBU OP - to spin this as some tragic love story is idiotic

chilledwarmth · 29/03/2016 11:17

If the reports about him doing it to get the attention of his ex wife are true then it honestly sounds like he's mentally ill and needs help rather than punishment.

Shutthatdoor · 29/03/2016 11:20

Think I will catch up on this particular story when all the facts come out.

Yep me too

VertigoNun · 29/03/2016 11:40

This story is odd, now it's an American refugee wanting prisoners in Egypt released.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 29/03/2016 11:44

agree

this is why it is so important to teach young people what is respectable love and what is abusive

as this sort of action (maybe not so extreme) is seen by many, will be shown in films as romantic - it is not at all its unhealthy obsession/controlling and delusional

and of course if it was a woman she would be crazy, a bunny boiler etc etc
