NDN using vibrator every bloody 15 mins!

For the past 45 minutes I've been able to hear what sounds very much like a vibrator being used. It starts up buzzing for about 15 minutes, then stops for a bit, then starts again. Hmm I can't think what on earth else it might be.

I'm so glad NDN are getting their rocks off but it's late, and I am 7 months pregnant and struggle to sleep as it is without having to listen to buzzing half the night. I've never heard it before and oddly I can't hear any other (accompanying) sounds!

AIBU to bang on the wall and spoil their fun?!

I'm going with the phone vibrating too. How old are they?

redcaryellowcar · 29/03/2016 09:23

I have a jewellery cleaner that makes a buzzing/ vibrating noise (dh thinks it sound like outer shower extractor) and it runs for exactly 15 minutes, maybe she's going through her entire jewellery box this evening? I suppose you'll only know if her diamonds are gleaming?

Branleuse · 29/03/2016 09:23

if your walls are that thin, then i suggest earplugs. Whatever the noise actually is.

Dawndonnaagain · 29/03/2016 09:34

Ds1 has a machine that enables him to breath through the night, he has sleep apnoea. They can make a bit more noise if the mask slips. Maybe it's somebody getting used to one?

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 29/03/2016 13:54

I hadn't even thought of things like breast pumps, foot buffers, epilators etc! Clearly my mind is in the gutter Grin It wasn't a constant humming, you could hear the varying pressure/speeds.

On one side are a 20 something couple with 3 year old, other side is a single lady in her mid-40s for those who asked.

I finally drifted off in the end so no idea how long it went on for! We've been here for two years with no trouble with noise, very rarely hear the sweet three year old or the labrador. I think vibration sounds must just be quite resonant.

Could it be a portable blood pressure machine? My mom once had one fitted for 48 hours and it kept my dad awake as it would go off about every 15 mins.

Hillfarmer · 29/03/2016 14:49

Surely you would hear accompanying escalating crescendos of ecstasy as well if it was a vibrator? If you could hear the vibrations of a vibrator, the human noises would be audible too.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 29/03/2016 14:52

Not everybody makes loud sounds of ecstasy though!

It could be their fridge if it's not working properly. They can make an intermittent buzzing noise while trying to cool.

WanderingNotLost · 29/03/2016 15:07

Yeah I reckon it's an epilater. My flat mates at uni used to think I was having some alone time when I showered because of the noise mine made... all fun and games until they bought me a vibrator for my birthday "because yours must be worn out you use it that much!" Red cheeks all round when I told them was the noise really was!

TiggyD · 29/03/2016 16:33

Might be one of those mains powered vibrators. They've really got a powerful shake. Loud though.

NellyTimes · 29/03/2016 16:35

Umm...are you my neighbour..?

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 29/03/2016 16:38

I use a handheld vacuum, epilator and micro pedi with alarming frequency.

All could potentially sound like a vibrator through a wall I suppose.

No-one can hear me though!

Andrewofgg · 29/03/2016 17:24

You could ask if her brand of vibrator cracks her fillings like yours did.

Pipe down, Andrew!

SupSlick · 29/03/2016 18:04

Sorry OP, it's been a while Blush

Fourfifthsof · 29/03/2016 18:13

I used to have a vibrator that interfered with my TV signal. God knows what my neighbours must have thought... Wink

MissBeaHaving · 29/03/2016 20:52

My Ds is summer baby born during a record heatwave. I used to express in the bedroom with the widows wide open & curtains closed,I hope if the neighbours heard that they realised it was the breast pump I was using all hours of the day & night.Blush

RapunzelStyle · 29/03/2016 21:09

I have doxy mains operated wand.
It makes my block of 6 flats shake.
Totally worth it though.

ClopySow · 29/03/2016 21:11

Mains powered wand vibrator? They are extremely powerful and noisy.

BestZebbie · 29/03/2016 21:28

I vote blender/smoothie maker - muffled by a wall it would just buzz. NDN is batch cooking!

LifeofI · 29/03/2016 21:29

lol maybe its a toothbrush or some sort of tool

CrazyDuchess · 29/03/2016 21:32

CPAP machine??

MissBeaHaving · 29/03/2016 22:11

Can you just bite the bullet & ask ?
I want to know haha

FlowersAndShit · 29/03/2016 23:28
