Aarghhh!!! "All ready for my babies in the morning" with picture of ridiculously huge pile of chocolate, sweets, TOYS (WTF? It's not Christmas!), CLOTHES, Easter trees, bunnies and fluffy chicks. I have oodles of these nauseating posts on my Fb feed tonight. AIBU to think Easter is letting your kids eat chocolate for breakfast and that's it? What the heck is WRONG with people?

DC aren't little for long, some people like to make a fuss out of anything no not me, I haven't at all set up an Easter bunny hunt
YABU for being on FB then moaning about the gloaty posts!

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 26/03/2016 22:05

Staying off FB and ignoring all the crap is my advice.

My DC get a couple of little eggs each in a hunt in the morning, and maybe a treat after lunch. They're excited about that and having a special day with their cousins.

Toys, piles of sweets etc. is not on our radar at all.

The80sweregreat · 26/03/2016 22:06

Ignore fb till tuesday. Its all become a 'thing' made up by supermarkets and other outlets to make people spend more money than just a pre packed choc egg.
It used to be an actual religious festival.
Do,your own thing.

WorraLiberty · 26/03/2016 22:07

Sounds like a lovely Easter to me.

We just have a few eggs and a nice roast dinner.

But that doesn't make us 'right' and other families 'wrong'.

Seeyounearertime · 26/03/2016 22:07

FB is sooooo much better if you block everyone from your news feed.

BearFoxBear · 26/03/2016 22:08

I'm oblivious to all of this nonsense, it's being completely ignored in this house!

Missdread · 26/03/2016 22:10

Hahaha yes I know I ABU for being on there in the first place!! Competitive Christmas is bad but this competitive chocolate bragfest is worse than ever this year!

I've posted pics but more to say thanks to people who have thought of my children and also to show DSD what she has waiting for her next weekend! . Ds has been given gifts of clothes and toys but that is because he has a dairy intolerance and finding DF eggs is tricky so family but him gifts instead.

WorraLiberty · 26/03/2016 22:13

Why does it wind you up this much OP?

CaptainCrunch · 26/03/2016 22:13

Don't celebrate Easter. Never have, never will.

BillBrysonsBeard · 26/03/2016 22:13

Facebook is for bragging (one of the reasons I'm off it now) so save your sanity by not logging in when there's an impending festival!

scarlets · 26/03/2016 22:14

Sounds ostentatious. Not one of my FB friends has done this. Still, people can spend their hard-earned cash how they like I guess, and they can put what they want on their profiles.

AgentCooper · 26/03/2016 22:14

Oh it's flaming stupid, Miss, I totally agree. My MIL has got it into her head that Easter presents are a thing and she needs to fret about what to get each of her (ten) grandchildren, spending money she really, really can't afford. It's very confusing to DH, who got a Yorkie egg when he was a wee boy and that was that!

When did Easter presents become a thing??

LagunaBubbles · 26/03/2016 22:15

Well I've got piles of eggs on my couch for my 3 in the morning from the Easter Bunny! And he's also hidden lots and lots of eggs in the garden - good luck to my boys finding them as Easter Bunny had drank a bottle of wine before they randomly chucked then out into the garden!!!
Don't think my 23 year old DS would appreciate toys mind you haha!
Anyway sorry YABU, it's only a bit of fun with chocolate!

JeanGenie23 · 26/03/2016 22:16

It frustrates me too, but whatever, live and let live. My children are too young to be eating bucket loads of chocolate, they have a couple of chocolate bunnies each but they will be lucky if they are still around tomorrow I will start the diet Tuesday

GeoffreysGoat · 26/03/2016 22:17

I've done a treasure hunt for the 3yo to find his egg to keep him amused till church which will, ironically, be a chocolate fest

Sallyingforth · 26/03/2016 22:20

a bit of fun with chocolate because a man got nailed to a cross 2,000 years ago.
Yes that makes sense :)

Dexterjamesmummy · 26/03/2016 22:21

My little girl is only 11 months and I don't let her have chocolate yet so people are buying her Easter presents (a book, clothes that kind of thing). I haven't asked for them but family want her to have them. I've got her a rabbit balloon on a stick, it was £1 from tesco. There will be no Easter bragging post as my status tomorrow!

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 26/03/2016 22:24

It is madness. When I was a child in the 1970's we got an egg or two - matchmakers when we were older - and that was it. This conspicuous consumption is nauseating.

WorraLiberty · 26/03/2016 22:24

Arf @ the man being nailed to the cross Grin

Queenie73 · 26/03/2016 22:24

Sounds like an opportunity to unleash your inner sanctimummy and say something sniffy about rotten teeth and poor diets.
Or ignore, whatever. I don't have Facebook because this sort of thing would probably irritate me if i let it.

IdaJones · 26/03/2016 22:26

I'm not on fb but i don't think that would bother me. It's nice that they are excited about it. As long as they weren't showing my dc the picture and saying "Look how much more my children are getting than you!"

Missdread · 26/03/2016 22:26

Chocolate YES! But no need to brag and post pictures of how many your kids have got. I just don't get people's constant need to try to do better than everyone else on FB... And def no need for presents IMO.
