To not always pick up dog poo...

I walk my dog in a very remote, rural area. She is pretty consistent in the general area that she normally goes to toilet on a very old, rarely used lane which is bordered by a massive over grown thicket hedge and woodland. I usually get a stick and knock it into the hedge. No one really walks down here, no one would ever get through that hedge and see it no different than a fox having a poo there - which many do! If I am in a public place, on a public footpath etc of course I'd always pick it up. But picking it up there means carrying smelly poo for three miles home as no bins etc and seems unnecessary

The OP maybe a very conscientious owner with a dog that only poos in areas guaranteed to have no other human or animal contact but the other 8999999 owners in the UK will think that it means it is OK for them to leave their dog shit too - regardless of where their dog craps. So more poo in parks, on pavements and outside school gates.

I love how some people are using the convenient fact that dog poo degrades eventually as an excuse not to pick it up. Stop being lazy and pick the stuff up. It's not hard to do...

So what if a farmer doesn't pick up? It's their land. Gross, but they're entitled to decide for themselves.

Everyone else should pick up or stop keeping dogs.

Dh has a constant war with dog poo, it has flicked in his face when he strims hedges and verges, he finds it on the sports pitches he looks after and had arguments with dogwalkers who say it is his job to pick up their dogs shit.

On our walk up to the girls school in order to avoid the cars you have to squeeze into the hedge by the side of the road, hosing crap off ds's buggy wheels is a weekly treat.

Pick the fucking stuff up.

JohnCusacksWife I imagine they're the same people who throw takeaway leftovers into grass verges.
