Today on the BBC news there was an article on health tourism. I googled it and it's in the press too. Aibu to think the government are completely stupid to allow health tourism but at the same time apparently can't afford certain drugs, want to worsen junior doctors contracts etc?

Surely this could be solved by refusing to allow people to enter the country without adequate health insurance, so NHS costs can be reclaimed? I find this government pathetic.

I don't understand why your thread title is Junior Drs aibu when the body of your comments are about health tourism - the two are not linked

Because the government are happy to pay for health tourists but want to cut pay of junior doctors. I think the junior doctors should be paid and treated fairly.

They aren't happy to pay for health tourists but some consider the benefits of being in the EU outweigh some of the downsides.

If you will go around believing figures artistically cooked and served by the likes of the Express and Telegraph it's no wonder you worry unnecessarily. They tell lies, you know.

It's a long time ago now, but last time I went abroad for a holiday I took my EU health card along just in case one of us fell ill in France and needed some, you know, reciprocal health care. Believe it or not they do have health care facilities in "Abroad" - some of them excellent.

Anyone who works in the NHS will confirm health tourism is an issue, so I don't think it's 'lies.'
