So I can watch The Voice and Casualty?

It's always the bloody programmes I like to watch that are messed around with. Even if my programmes are a bit shit!

They should make a 'normal' channel for sports.

Ok, could they make one for soaps and for shitty 'talent' and reality shows too then because I personally hate those, therefore they shouldn't be allowed on when I want to watch TV.

Seriously though, it is a bit weird that adults can't find other ways to occupy themselves when they don't want to watch what is on TV.

Sallystyle · 19/03/2016 22:57

Yep, either way would work. I wouldn't mind a shite TV channel, but I would probably put a lot of programmes in that category that others love.

Of course I can occupy myself without TV! We didn't have one out of choice for years and I don't watch much TV as it is really. I'm not sure where anyone said they can't manage to occupy themselves. Not the end of the world or anything, quite lighthearted really but didn't feel the need to put that in the title as I thought it would be obvious.

yanbu
not only do they prioritise some sports......but the whole day is full of adds for it

FillingMakesMeVom · 19/03/2016 23:12

I think previously it could have been a good idea but realistically there's not enough sports on a single channel like BBC or ITV to warrant one abs with cuts to the BBC meaning BBC three has gone it's not feasible, one other perspective though is a lot of these sports have been on annually for years before casualty or the voice so it could be argued that it is the regular programming Wink

MrsJayy · 19/03/2016 23:12

Of course we can occupy ourselves but its annoying if you are looking forward to your programmes and the schedule changes

FillingMakesMeVom · 19/03/2016 23:15

Shorter version and kinda In response to MrsJayy:

These have been on annually for years before casualty or the voice was thought of so technically, they are the normal schedule

What a weird thing to say.

I'd been looking forward to Casualty all day, that's all.

nancy75 · 20/03/2016 15:08

I can find other stuff to do, I can talk to my husband, I just don't want to!

ilovesooty · 20/03/2016 16:01

The Voice is on tonight.
Be prepared for rescheduling during June and July when Euro 2016 is on.

OnlyLovers · 20/03/2016 17:32

I don't watch The Voice or Casualty but I agree with the sentiment.

Two episodes of Shetland, which finished its run recently, were postponed because of fecking sport. It was only six episodes, it was very tense and twisty and each episode finished on a cliffhanger or a point of intrigue. And we had to wait two bleeding weeks for the resolution. TWICE!

wasonthelist · 20/03/2016 17:43

No interest in Rugby, The Voice or Casualty so not upset.

EastMidsMummy · 20/03/2016 17:48

Casualty has been on every fucking week forever. Can't it please stop?

Vintage45 · 20/03/2016 17:50

Im a sport on TV hater too, so am with you all the way here OP! Piss off Grin

wasonthelist · 20/03/2016 18:22

Grineastmids mummy

SoupDragon · 20/03/2016 18:31

Casualty has been on every fucking week forever.

Well, it wasn't on this week.

Vintage45 · 20/03/2016 18:34

I fucking hate that sport has to take a number 1 slot on tv. Who bloody says so? I don't!

ilovesooty · 20/03/2016 18:39

I don't think sport has a number 1 slot. I imagine if you add up the hours devoted to reality TV and soaps they would outnumber sport.

SoupDragon · 20/03/2016 19:37

Why do they put it on BBC1 I wonder? It seems odd to push out popular programmes on BBC1 when I imagine that programmes on BBC2 are perhaps less popular. Surely it makes no difference whether it is on 1 or 2.

FillingMakesMeVom · 20/03/2016 19:38

Also I would imagine the viewership for sport outnumbers that of casualty

Vintage45 · 20/03/2016 19:50

Thank god for that ilovesooty! They put it on BBC1 due to a man being in charge Grin

ilovesooty · 20/03/2016 19:53

The Euros are on BBC and ITV Grin

Vintage45 · 20/03/2016 19:55

Thank god I have sky then! Grin Hate sport and hate adverts. Sky is a marvellous thing so it is.

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/03/2016 12:36

Big sporting events get big viewing figures.
I imagine the higher the viewing figures a channel gets, the more funding it receives.

MitzyLeFrouf · 21/03/2016 12:38

Casualty has been on every fucking week forever. Can't it please stop?

Yes! Send Casualty to casualty. And then pull the plug on the life support machine. Absolute shit that it is.
