To ask when you started giving DC chocolate?

My sister bought 18mo DD an Easter egg. I was really surprised as I've never given DD anything like that and said I wouldn't give it to her (with hindsight I need to apologise for being ungrateful - she was only trying to be nice). My sister then asked when she could buy the kids chocolate as she said other friends kids got chocolate at that age. I've always thought I'd keep sweets and chocolate away from them until they discover it exists. Am I being pfb? What age did you all start giving your DC chocolate?

Not rtft, everyone has to decide these things for themselves. Apart from a wee bit of her birthday cake my dd had no refined sugar till 2. She's still at 15 not a choc eater but her dad doesn't really like chocolate so I'm not surprised. She prefers a pud or some haribo if in the mood for something sweet. Which is rare (monthly), but she's a bugger for savoury snacks (just as unhealthy unfortunately).

Everything in moderation is best I think.

I've never banned her from certain foods aside from the sugar thing which was advised due to me having gestational diabetes, a history of diabetes in the family plus on the odd occasion pil gave her sugar Angry it made her eczema flare up.

I have seen kids not allowed anything but organic vegan food go nuts at birthday parties etc

DD1 was about 2 and a 1/2 before she had anything like that. DS2 was about 1. Much harder with the second!
