are the Rowntrees ones? I've tried Aldi's, M&S, sainsburys fruit pastilles and none of them are anywhere as nice as the Rowntrees brand. AIBU?

Ha! I thought you were going to express a colour preference Blush
Green all the way for me (and white jelly babies, red opal fruits, purple hair I minions....)

HixieRice · 18/03/2016 21:00

hair l? haribo!

andadietcoke · 18/03/2016 21:00

It's never occurred to me to try generic fruit pastilles. But then they do seem to be an emergency road trip petrol station purchase!

ByThePrickingOfMyThumbs · 18/03/2016 21:01

No YANBU. The Rowntrees ones are the only ones worth having.

YakTriangle · 18/03/2016 21:03

I can't believe what I'm hearing, I'm so offended and I'm having a flashback to eating a green one by accident now.
Oh sorry, it's lighthearted. Yes, you're right, Rowntrees are the only ones that aren't crap.

mogloveseggs · 18/03/2016 21:03

Ooh I love fruit pastilles. Rowntrees are the best although I do like lions ones too. Hated the ice cream ones Rowntrees brought out when I was a kid though, gross!

JustABigBearAlan · 18/03/2016 21:04

I thought you were going to express a colour preference too! Grin

I miss fruit pastilles - and fruit gums Sad
They all have gelatine in, and so as a veggie I haven't had any for years.

MargotLovedTom · 18/03/2016 21:04

Black and red only colour worth having. That goes for any fruit based sweets.

MargotLovedTom · 18/03/2016 21:04

Colours

HixieRice · 18/03/2016 21:22

Jelly Tots are good too Alan!

suspiciousofgoldfish · 18/03/2016 21:22

Yes. Rowntrees are best. You speak the truth.
Own brand pastilles are inferior - bigger yet significantly blander in flavour.
And yes to the pp above - red and black are the most delicious.
Whoever said they like the green ones - shame on you.

FlowersAndShit · 18/03/2016 21:24

I don't like the Yellow ones, you can have those.

Jelly tots are amazing but too small for my liking!

Rowntrees are definitely the best, though I'll happily chomp on any brand.

As for the colours, green and yellow are my favourite, then orange, red and black.

I always eat them in reverse order of preference so black, then red, then orange - then I alternate the green and the yellow because I can't decide which of them I like best.

My mouth is watering now just thinking about fruit pastilles.

nancy75 · 18/03/2016 21:30

You all all wrong, it's all about the fruit gums!

KnobJockey · 18/03/2016 21:35

They've started doing bags with just two colours in, on offer in Asda at the minute for 75p. Ate a family size bag of red and blacks on Monday during an exam.

Kpo58 · 18/03/2016 21:39

I think that I prefer Wine Gums...

24balloons · 18/03/2016 21:47

I love the Waitrose ones definitely better than Rowntrees in my opinion :)

24balloons · 18/03/2016 21:50

I bought myself 3 bags today, they were on offer 3 for £2.50

SlinkyVagabond · 18/03/2016 21:52

Rowntrees def. green, black, yellow, red then orange.
You can buy packs of just black ones sometimes in Heron.

MeredithFrampton · 18/03/2016 21:53

Curse you all for this thread. I'm in hospital and now desperately craving fruit pastilles like never before. It was Jack Daniels before I opened this thread.

WonderingAspie · 18/03/2016 21:53

I've just finished a pack. Grin They were lovely. Loads of lovely green.

I'll eat any green, purple and black sweets. There isn't a flavour I won't eat actually but they are the best. I love sweets more than chocolate. Love wine gums, jelly tots, fruit gums and pastels, sports mixtures, tooty fruities, haribo and loads I've probably forgotten.

notamummy10 · 18/03/2016 22:03

Definitely the Rowntree ones for me...

I like the yellow, green and orange fruit pastilles the best!

PigletJohn · 18/03/2016 22:16

Rowntrees contain (traces of) fruit juice,

I always look at unfamiliar brands, they never do.

Even those fancy sugary things you see at Christmas, that look like candied slices of oranges and lemons, are just sugar, pig gelatine, artificial colour and artificial flavouring.

I like the orange ones.

Janeymoo50 · 18/03/2016 22:19

You are correct op. Blackcurrant and green are the best (i leave the orange ones).

DisappointedOne · 18/03/2016 22:21

Nah, anything Nestle tastes like baby blood to me.......
