6mths pregnant and been in heartburn hell for about the last 10wks. Been taking the tablets but was in chemist earlier when pharmacist told me I can get the liquid on minor ailments - great, or so I thought. Just went to have some and oh God nearly brought everything back up - it's horrible the consistency, the taste, the after taste - back to the tablets I think unless I can get DH to squire it down the back of my throat, if I can find the old medicine syringe

Agree with Threefaries - bit of bicarb in water is so much better! Gaviscon is like licking the floor of a Victorian public toilet.

So you are asking if you are being unreasonable cause your body doesnt agree with something? like really? are you bored?

Can't stand aniseed either. Think I'll just stick to the tablets, think it's rennies I've been munching up until now.

I was a gaviscon bottle swagger too - the mint is defo better than aniseed. Gaviscon is defo better than the cheaper makes. Also agree with the ranitidine it was my best friend! A 75mg tablet will see you through a good few hours - not heartburn free but 'normal' heartburn as opposed to the horrible nasty multiplied effects of pregnancy heartburn!! You can buy it 'zantac' but is cheaper to get the supermarket own make ranitidine or from poundland.

I hate Gaviscon. My GP prescribed Mucogel when I was pregnant, and it worked brilliantly. Same taste and texture as Milk of Magnesia, and also very drinkable from the bottle.
