to buy myself my own Lego?

May sound a bit silly, but would it be unreasonable to buy myself a really complicated Lego to do? And nope, my kids can't use it!

The only problem with the Eiffel Tower is the dusting ! If anyone is looking for a nice small piece the birds collection is lovely , you get 3 in a box and the Disney Wall-e is really cute .

dynevoran · 12/03/2016 23:20

I have found my people Grin

LyndaNotLinda · 12/03/2016 23:25

There are over 600 Lego sets which are 12+ so I don't think you're alone. I might put an extra shelf up in my office to put things on. I rebuilt Benny's spaceship after it fell on the floor. I bloody love it (it's not actually mine) and I've hidden it in the airing cupboard in case visiting children break it Blush

You know there's a name for people like us don't you? AFOL (adult fans of lego). It makes me feel dirty, like I go to furry conventions

nipersvest · 12/03/2016 23:26

dh got me the new york skyline set recently, was quite happy to build it myself but ds got to it first and built it for me Envy

dynevoran · 12/03/2016 23:29

I also had this made for ds for his birthday. I bought 100 superhero, star wars, ninjas turtles, ninjago and chima minifigs from China on eBay and he included the 60 we already had from sets. It's not such a fun build process obviously but I take great delight from it still.

He goes for days playing with them as they are normally them mashes them all up into mixed up figures then asks me to help him put them all back to original form again and I love it!

I love the look of the elves sets, sadly the DS's have ignored them. They have some really nice unique pieces in them too, as do the friends sets. I meant to buy the farming one ages ago, but it's not sold out.

I suspect DS1 will want the new bat cave at some point. I need a job pronto!

LyndaNotLinda · 12/03/2016 23:58

Oh wow bananafish. I'm seriously envious :o

ijustwannadance · 12/03/2016 23:59

I would love the ghostbusters fire station but it's almost £300 Sad

bananafish81 · 13/03/2016 00:04

Lynda the levels come off in sections so you can make each room individually

OMG. Its basically an epic doll's house

TimeToMuskUp · 13/03/2016 00:22

I'm a 34 year old mother of two lego-fanatic boys and have my own Death Star, Millennium Falcon and At-At. The DCs aren't allowed to play with them as they are things of such beauty.

The DCs also have a metric fecktonne of their own Lego, so I don't feel guilty. There's something incredibly cathartic about building lego late at night when they're in bed. Lego BB8 is the most beautiful thing I've ever held in my hand.

TrionicLettuce · 13/03/2016 00:35

That, bananafish, is exactly what I want to do. I'd have to include my lovely haunted house (this one) and the new Ghostbusters Firehouse which I'm currently lusting after.

WheresTheCoffee · 13/03/2016 00:43

Do it!

hogbreath · 13/03/2016 01:38

I got the Tower Bridge for xmas. Loved building it. Takes up a lot of space though.

londonrach · 13/03/2016 07:31

Op yanbu but yabu if you dont tell us which one. Is it the parisian cafe?

trufflehunterthebadger · 13/03/2016 07:48

do it do it. lots of us adult lego fans :)

i collect architecture, city and have got Tower Bridge for my 40th on wednesday

what are you getting ?

DeltaSunrise · 13/03/2016 08:02

I'm not a Star Wars fan but I really want he Millenium Falcon. I don't think dp thinks I'm serious as he laughs when I mention it.

I really enjoyed building the Lego Ninjago flight of destiny.

I may have slid the dc's Lego boxes out of their rooms a few times to build while they are asleep.

Fishface77 · 13/03/2016 09:45

I would LOVE the Ferris wheel!

Fishface77 · 13/03/2016 09:45

And the ghostbusters car

Shelby1981 · 13/03/2016 10:15

not at all, me and my husband love lego! most recently I built the VW Campervan Grin

Stickerrocks · 13/03/2016 10:18

I have the camper van, Simpsons House, Dr Who set, mini and Wall-E. Still waiting to start the last two. Nano blocks is probably a bigger challenge as they are so fiddly. I have a whole host of buildings, a steam train and pirate ship from their range.
