Luckily I don't have to go to my guy at the weekend, but popped in today to get conditioner and freaking hell it was like a bloody creche.

Why do women get kids hair done ( for mega bucks) and nice ADULT salons.

I know, i know, they pay the money etc but just go to the salon which is a bit shit instead please - or get the mobile woman

SweetieDrops · 12/03/2016 17:23

How do you know if it's an ADULT salon as opposed to just a salon?

NeedACleverNN · 12/03/2016 17:24

If I want to pay to have my toddlers hair done in a boutique that's my choice. I want her hair done properly not by a mobile woman.

My daughter, my money, my rules.

however I do encourage best behaviour there. Quiet voice and no running about

neolara · 12/03/2016 17:24

I take my 11 yo to an expensive salon because she's too old to have to endure the truly terrible haircuts that are available at the three local (considerably cheaper) hairdressers.

startwig1982 · 12/03/2016 17:24

Well my hairdresser does your children for free and quite frankly, why should the kids have to go somewhere i don't know/trust just so you're not put out?

Floggingmolly · 12/03/2016 17:25

Go to the one that's a bit shit instead? Confused. For the same reason you don't, I suppose.

BrassicaBabe · 12/03/2016 17:26

lol. In my experience there's a reason hairdressers are local or mobile. I have experience of their craft with 2 on my DTs before making appts at Paul Mitchell. (Sorry if you are a super skilled local or mobile hairdresser!)

The kids are well behaved, welcomed and I've never spotted an "adults only" sign when booking IT paying.

Sparklingbrook · 12/03/2016 17:26

So 'mobile women' are not proper hairdressers. Shock I never knew.

weebarra · 12/03/2016 17:27

I take DD to my salon as my friend works there and DD is beautifully behaved for her and gets excited about having her hair cut as opposed to being a quivering wreck.
Where I take my boys varies, but because of DS1's horrific double crown, it needs to be someone who knows what they're doing.
I don't treat the hairdresser like a crèche though.

Sparklingbrook · 12/03/2016 17:27

I am going to set up as a mobile hairdresser right away. Smile

ilovesooty · 12/03/2016 17:28

So you get to go during the week as a customer? How lucky you are that you can afford to do that and stay away from the plebs Grin

Arpege · 12/03/2016 17:28

I wasn't aware there were children's salons? Are there?

And if not, what else are you supposed to do?

I just take dd(3) when I go and we both get done. They don't charge much for kids anyway.

ASpiderInThebath · 12/03/2016 17:28

Why should our children's hair look shit though!? My dds all have weird hair (from their dad side!) - strange partings / cows licks / double crowns... (haha believe it or not they are gorgeous). I've taken them to cheaper salons and their hair looks rubbish so now I take them to the expensive salon I go to and the hairdresser there always does an absolutely fantastic job so we continue to go there. My children are quiet and well behaved and won't cause any disruption to any adults having their hair done.

In what way was it like a crèche? Are you sure it wasn't their mum having her hair done and she brought them along as she didn't have a babysitter? Otherwise I can't see how children sitting there having their hair done would make it like a crèche!

Oh and YABU.

NeedACleverNN · 12/03/2016 17:29

I'm sure there are some mobile hair dressers who are fantastic but i won't go to someone I don't know just because it's for a toddler.

I've gone to my salon for years now and trust it completely

mudandmayhem01 · 12/03/2016 17:29

Maybe these are salons are cheap ones for these women, its all relative. I pay £15 to get dds haircut that is excessive to some people and cheap to others.

JackandDiane · 12/03/2016 17:30

oh god this mum bleating on about how they were going for PIZZA after in an irritatingly kind and upbeat voice
I thought ' shut the fuck up' in an unkind and snidey way

What's kids? 8? 12? 14? What age does someone have to be to care about their hair?

Your answer to this will affect what I say.

SweetieDrops · 12/03/2016 17:33

Seriously? So now people aren't allowed to take their children for a haircut or talk about what they are doing after? You sound like seriously hard work to be around.

edwinbear · 12/03/2016 17:33

Dd comes with me and has hers done whilst I'm getting mine done. However I get dh to come and collect her when she is finished as mine takes much longer with the colour. She's always very well behaved though as she knows it's a 'big girls' hairdressers which requires 'big girl' behaviour.

JackandDiane · 12/03/2016 17:33

I went to the hairdressers today and there was a really snobby woman looking at my children with a really disgusted look on her face.

Wibu to tell her if she wants child free to go find one of the shit ones or a mobile hairdresser?
