Luckily I don't have to go to my guy at the weekend, but popped in today to get conditioner and freaking hell it was like a bloody creche.

Why do women get kids hair done ( for mega bucks) and nice ADULT salons.

I know, i know, they pay the money etc but just go to the salon which is a bit shit instead please - or get the mobile woman

Also, I'd LOVE to see JackandDianes hair. Anyone else?

VirginiaWoofs · 12/03/2016 20:34

This thread has made me feel shit about my hair. I can't afford to go to any hair dressers

VirginiaWoofs · 12/03/2016 20:35

I know that's my own problem though ...if you have money, pay for whatever you like.

sadsister4 · 12/03/2016 20:37

Don't take JackandDiane seriously.

If she is who I suspect she is, she's a facetious mare with a strong wind-up streak and a well-concealed heart of gold who goes well with chips

GrouchyKiwi · 12/03/2016 20:37

How do you find mobile hairdressers? I need a cut but getting into a salon is nigh impossible for the next 6 months at least.

ohtheholidays · 12/03/2016 20:38

YABVU!

I take all of my 5DC to a nice salon, but my DC are always very well behaved in there and they're amongst the stylists favorite clients. The stylists are always talking to our DC whilst doing they're hair our children always engage in conversation with the person doing they're hair and they always say please and thankyou and they'd never run around the salon or raise they're voices or make a mess. Why would they?! They've been raised to show respect and they all manage to including our 2DC who are autistic.
Our youngest DD who is autistic is usually one of them that there are arguments over who gets to do her hair this time.
One of the owners has been known to go and move her chair to where they are(whilst the stylist that was going to be doing her hair has gone to hang her coat up)so they got to spend some time with her instead Smile

We've become friends with alot of the people that work in the salon we use.

There's no way I would use a mobile hairdresser or go to a shit hairdressers myself so there's no way I'm going to make my children!

The kind of hairdressers I think your talking about are usually full of parents that are ignoring they're children whilst they run around screaming they're heads off.Our children don't behave like that so why should I inflict that kind of noise and stress on them?

We pay for the servive were receiving and I know for a fact that I tip alot better than alot of they're other clients.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 12/03/2016 20:40

Grouchy most of my friends got details of mobile hairdressers through word of mouth. If you have it, put a shout out in Facebook and see if anybody has any recommendations.

lborolass · 12/03/2016 20:42

Where do your children get their haircut OP?

WBDmadness · 12/03/2016 20:57

The only thing that pisses me off about getting my kids hair cuts at our good salon is that they only charge £8 for the privilege. Takes as long to do one of my DC's hair as it does mine for a fraction of the price!

Like a PP said in, in our naice salon they treat the children as people and not just small beings who are taking up space.

JackandDiane · 12/03/2016 21:08

they go themselves to the barbers

We take the kids to our normal expensive salon. But... we are told to take them during the week rather than at the weekend when it's busy. It's a lovely experience for us, there's usually a couple of stylists about who have time to chat to the kids, the kids get juice and a biscuit and are very well behaved. And their haircuts are cheaper than my SIL pays for her 'local' hairdresser to cut her kids hair.

BigQueenBee · 12/03/2016 21:19

Their money, their choice. It's that simple.
I don't do Waitrose, some people want to be seen there.
I really don't give a shit.

GrouchyKiwi · 12/03/2016 21:45

Thanks, Procrastinator.

slkk · 12/03/2016 22:08

I don't mind kids per se but some children just scream and fight through the whole haircut. As getting my hair done is a rare treat (child free pampering 3 times a year in a local not swanky salon ) it is frustrating. Ds tended to fight at his haircut so Dh always does it in front of mr tumble. Ds doesn't mind now but we will carry on doing it at home. It looks ok. I think if kids are going to scream, you should try and do it at home. They surely won't be that fussy about style if they're screaming at the hairdresser. Round here we do have kids' hairdressers but they're pretty posh and pricey.

witsender · 12/03/2016 22:10

Mine have come with me before. But they behave themselves and sit in the chair next to me and look at books or toys. They are 5 and 3. The eldest doesn't come really now, but youngest still will at times.

ouryve · 12/03/2016 22:16

It's rarely full price to get kids' hair done. DS1 has been going to the same stylist as me since he was 9. His cuts cost less than half of what mine do.

tigerdriverII · 12/03/2016 22:18

You would have loved DH and DS at a swanky Kings Road salon a couple of weeks ago.

However DS is 14 and a Justin Bieber lookalike, so all is forgiven.

I don't take him with me otherwise. I let him down Grin

Mistigri · 12/03/2016 22:22

I just get my kids' hair cut at my normal salon, doesn't everyone do this? (Assuming they can afford it).

I've used the same hairdresser for at least 7 years and she's very good. She's also quick and skilled with kids, which is a blessing if your child dislikes the haircutting process, and for preteens she charges only a third of the price of a regular adult cut.

ouryve · 12/03/2016 22:26

S'Been ages since I saw a good mullet

One of the local mums has a fab mullet. Badly died red, of course. It's perfect!

ouryve · 12/03/2016 22:30

Taking DS1 during the week is not an option, btw. He doesn't even get home from school until it shuts.

And weekdays are often just as busy as Saturdays, since it's a popular salon with male students and they do lots of fashion show work.

BadDoGooder · 12/03/2016 22:32

I have found this thread very amusing!
DP has never been to a hairdressers, ditto 3yr old DS!
I haven't been to a hair dressers for over a decade!!

You guys need hair you can do at home, think of all the money we have saved by never paying a hairdresser! [grin

BadDoGooder · 12/03/2016 22:32

tigerdriverII · 12/03/2016 22:49

Talking about mullets, I had one accidentally a couple of months ago.

Mortifying

bakeoffcake · 12/03/2016 23:12

I'm feeling rather smug at the moment about my mobile hairdresser, they aren't all crap you know.

I've been going to my hairdresser for years at an Aveda salon, which is pretty expensive, she's now decided to work for herself.

So I will be getting the same haircut for half the price.

LifeofI · 13/03/2016 00:54

Lol op you are funny.
Kids are annoying sometimes in the hairdressers but they want good hair too Smile
