To be annoyed with Ocado?

Ocado have sent me a driver with a prosthetic leg. Just to be clear, I have nothing against the driver having a prosthetic leg. But I had an email from Ocado saying that the driver was not able to manage the 40 steps at my property and could come back later at 7pm. The driver has asked me to meet him at the top of the steps and to carry the shopping down myself. I have a 7 mo baby who I should be putting to bed at 7pm, but instead I'll be carrying the baby and the shopping up and down the steps. Hmm

Why are you worrying about the babies sleep.

gasman · 28/03/2016 14:22

I've just moved.

On my first delivery the driver said "oh you must have just moved in as we've not met before and this is my route and I see you use Ocado regularly"

So I think there is some continuity with drivers.

We never get the same driver twice, and I often get two deliveries a week! But I live in central London and I think it is a busy area for Ocado. We are ground floor and just ask them to leave it at the door so carrying is not an issue, but I pay a lot for my monthly pass and would certainly expect them to deliver it where I needed it as part of that service.

I take your point about the promise, but I think YABU on this occasion. You just need to leave the baby for a few minutes, that's all.

First world problems. What about the poor sod with one leg? Bet you didn't think about him for one second. Nope. Self-centred middle class want want want no empathy. Just shut the whinging. It's not a good look. Some poor single mothers have to drag their kids to Iceland on the bus. Get a bleeding grip

ocado should use the information the customer has provided and ensure their driver is able to fulfill the delivery.
however, it really isn’t a big deal as a one off to put the baby somewhere safe and go and bring your shopping in.
i wouldn’t be using a baby carrier and pissing about making it harder, they will be fine in their cot on in a baby seat infront of the tv.
like someone else said, some parents have to do the food shop by foot/on the bus with kids dragging their heels all the way.
