Every day she hoovers for one hour. Every day!! Average sized semi, no kids. How can it get that dirty? Dropped DS at nursery furst thing, currently pg and got another sodding cold, lying here trying to rest and she's bloody well at it again. She only did it yesterday afternoon. I hate her. Sigh. Sorry just needed to get that off my chest. Some days I just want to go live in a forest on my own for some fucking peace.

Sounds a bit unnecessary unless someone in the house has allergies and they do recommend it. What are the chances?

Sounds like you need to improve the soundproofing in your house. I'm sure your neighbour will soon be cursing the crying baby noises travelling the other way.

Can you not ask her to pop round and hoover at yours (then mine) instead?

My old neighbour used to be like this - in a 2 bed flat. She was always cleaning, hoovering or arguing with her shouty husband. I used to feel bad for her need to constantly clean and guilt I didn't do more in roughly equal measure.

Reminds me of a neighbour who was extremely house proud. I think she might have had OCD.

How do you improve the soundproofing? Genuine query... We deliberately have the nursery on the outer wall not joining. Of course initially we might not be able to help some baby noise. We were very aplogetic when DS was little and bought them flowers and whiskey that xmas. He's lovely, she's erm not so much.

Oh my Gaston would not be happy with 7.30. My issue is the time varies so you never know when it's going to start.

I don't think they have allergies. They have a dog but he's kept outside in a kennel and whines all day. I think it's cruel!

I had a neighbour who, unbeknown to me had her sister come live with her whilst sorting a house out for her to live in.
The sister had lived in South Africa where she used to get up and do her house work at 4.30 am every morning before the heat of the day kicked in. As my neighbour had gone to work at that point, and her husband hadn't yet come home from his night shift, they never realised what was happening. This went on for weeks.

I didn't know this though and was cursing my neighbour for this early morning 'alarm call', and it wasn't until I was introduced to the sister that the penny dropped.
So I had a quiet word in my neighbours ear, asking her to explain and harmony was restored.

I have now moved and just have cawing crows on my roof at dawn instead

Oh God, don't get me started on the cawing crows. From dawn till bloody dusk at the moment.

A drilling noise comes from my neighbours every evening i cant work out what they are doing it only lasts 15ish minutes but it drives me nuts

Leave your Hoover turned on beside the adjoining wall for at least an hour a day. Go out/ put headphones in etc. Let her see what it's like

I've got lung issues at the moment, I've got left over CF, so it's my DD (18) mostly who is hoovering daily.

I managed this morning, the cleaner my environment, the better it is for my health, atm.

I friend of mine focuses on housework when her depression is building.

Good idea Paul Anka. Problem is she works odd hours. Seems to pop back at some point in the day to feed the dog and hoover then she's off out again. They do go to bed early though so if I could just palm ds off on someone else for a night I could see my revenge by hoovering at 10pm

Sorry to hear that Birds hope you get better soon. This has been going on for 3 years though so I don't think there's any underlying health issues. Think she's just a clean freak.

If we hear next door's hoover going it means only one thing. The social workers are coming round.

My great aunt was known as the Hoover Queen. She did it at 8am every day. It could be worse! YANBU, by the way.

YABU. She's not doing it early morning or late at night.
An hour a day hoovering sounds reasonable to me (owner of two large hairy dogs that shed bucketfuls every day).

My sister also vacuums an awful lot (at least daily) - she's mildly OCD with it,, though it has got a bit better in recent years.
But the universe is balanced out as I rarely vacuum.

Could she have a roomba? Ours is set to come on an hour a day.

I love the smell of a freshly hoovered room.

My SIL hoovers so much it is an obsession.
She does it because she has nothing else to do and she also uses it as an excuse not to talk to people.
If you go round, she starts hoovering.
You can guess from this that she now has no friends.
My MIL is also an obsessive hooverer, I am convinced it is women's alternative to having a decent sex life.
