They all seem to think that just because its winter and the snow will cover up the poo that they can just stop cleaning up after their dogs, and now spring is coming and the snow is starting to melt there's slushy dog shit everywhere.

Was pulling DD on her sledge to daycare today and went over a big turd that had been just covered enough for me to not see it until it was too late, luckily I didn't stand in it myself but now I have to clean half frozen shit off the sledge because some dog owners are twats.

Seems reasonable. I hate people who don't pick up their dog shit. I was out for a walk with my toddler and only just managed to stop her picking up a giant steaming turd

I hope I catch someone walking away with their dog so I can loudly remind them that they forgot something and hopefully shame them into cleaning up.

Do it. Not the snowball thing because that is dangerous but the shouting after them. I do it. I shout after them and offer spare poo bags and more often than not they say thanks and clear it up. I have dogs and really hate it when people don't clean up after them. I clean up after mine, I don't want to step in yours thank you. If anything, its easier in the snow because it kind of freezes as it hits the ground, not so messy lol.

I saw someone the other day scoop the poo into a bag - and then throw the bag on the floor and walk away from it. I would have said something, but i was in a car.

It's disgusting and I have a FOAF who lost an eye because she got dogshit in it as a child, so it really winds me up that rank people are so selfish they expose others.

On a slightly separate but equally gross note, I took DD swimming last week. The baby lessons are in a hydrotherapy pool at a hospital and so there is nowhere to put dirty nappies; they ask you to take them away with you.

One lady came out clutching a dirty nappy and headed for the bin. She couldn't read the sign (she wasn't english), so asked me what it said and i explained, showing her DD's balled up nappy in a bag. She understood spoken english very well and took it back into the changing room with her.

After she'd gone, I saw she had just dumped the open shitty nappy on the counter above the bin for some other poor sod to deal with - gross.

I have never understood that - they're willing to do the grossest part, actually scooping the poop into a bag... But then can't be arsed to put it into a bin you see bags of it hanging from trees, also baffling. Do they think if they throw it into the air it disappears?
If they can't be bothered to pick up after their dogs and put it in a bin, they shouldn't have dogs. You don't get to choose the nice bits of pet ownership and ignore the more unpleasant ones.

I think it was Walt Disney that calculated people will normally walk 30 steps before they drop litter. Which is why there are so many trash cans at Disney.

I have no idea why people bag it and leave it, it happens where I walk too. If you're going to do that it would be better just to leave it because at least the poo will degrade eventually - the bag won't. I always take mine home because I live in the village and it's not far.

It is amazing though how many dog walking sites don't have bins. It's also amazing how much cleaner a local dog walking field has become since a bin was installed and poo bags provided. Now everyone is happy.

Lockhart, i think most people have bins at home don't they? Why can't they take their crap bags home and put it in their own blimping bins. I think it's very unreasonable and childish to excuse their discussing behaviour by saying 'well there was no bin within 20 steps so I just left the poo bag hanging in a tree'.

They do indeed have bins at home raisins and I agree with the fact that they should be cleaning it up regardless.

But if you make cleaning up after themselves easier then more people are likely to do it - simple. It would be cheaper for the council to install a bin than to embark on a campaign of advertising and dog wardens. It removes the excuses people trot out ("I didn't have a bag" / "There is no bin" etc). It means that dog owners don't have to carry dog poo so far (yes, it IS my responsibility to do it but that doesn't make it a pleasant experience). Life becomes cleaner and nicer for everyone.

OP I sympathise. I live in an area that gets 7-9 feet of snow per year.
