AIBU?

Entitled bitch!

I get to the bus stop a bit early and think, I've just got time to get a coffee. Join what's a slightly long queue at Costa, but I should still be okay.

A very well-dressed mother walks away with her drink and the drink of her early-to-mid teen daughter.

I get to the front, place my order and pay.

Mine's next in line to be made when blonde swoops back in saying to the daughter, "You know it's so important to me, darling"

She puts both drinks down and says, "This needs to be extra hot".

And the staff immediately acquiesce and start making her a new drink.

My bus turns up and I have to shout, "I'll pick up the flat white tomorrow" as I run out.

Just wishing I had the wherewithal to add, "just make sure that's hot enough for the entitled bitch"

What's got me going is that from what she said when she came back in, it sounded like the daughter placed the order and forgot to specify temperature at the time.

I'm with limited. OP and Lanark are reminding me of a teenager I knew who unexpectedly had to quit smoking after the local off-licence got done for selling to under-sixteens.

This is really not a good thing.

Later: It never fully dissolved, did it? What was that about?

Liney - tea in flasks was another whole world of stewed horror.

Young people today just don't know they're born! Rushing about with their cardboard cups of coffee and mobile phones ....

Oooh! Coffee drinkers seem very highly strung.

If she was "well-dressed" at least she wasn't doing the school run in her pyjamas.

I thought this post was going to be far more exciting than it actually is. I hate coffee and don't drink tea so have no idea on correct temperatures for such beverages.

Why does it matter what temperature your coffee is? I often make one, forget about it until it's stone cold, then drink it. No wonder iced coffee's a thing.

If Costa had messed up her order then she would not BU to expect it to be corrected without waiting again. But it sounds like that's not what happened here, she got what was ordered but her daughter forgot to say it should be extra hot. So she was BU to disrupt the queue with what was essentially a new order. It is a frustrating situation but, speaking as someone who struggles with time-keeping myself, you really need to organise your schedule so a minor delay doesn't ruin your day. And calling her a bitch and commenting on her appearance was uncalled for.

The Blonde should clearly haul her fragrant ass over to my nearest Waitrose. Whatever is in their self-service coffee machine, a latte remains undrinkable and hotter than Vesuvius for a good half hour.

Get your hair done

Buy yourself some nice clothes

Lose the inferiority complex.

And most of all, chill yourself out about these little things.

YABU. The woman is allowed to have her coffee as she likes it- the heat issue has to be dealt with straight away, it's not something you can queue up with as it would be very cold by then.

Your narrow world view of life will be really limiting your happiness in life. I am a blond (naturally) Mother, regularly address my DC as 'darling' and 'sweetie'. My son has a name that you would make all sorts of assumptions about but your lazy stereotyping prejudices would be completely off the mark if you knew me in person. I've never had any sway or influence to the degree you talk of - I wish!

I hate these threads. OP is nasty and so aggressive, and about nothing at all of substance. It depresses me to think that people are like this, walking around thinking horrible, prejudiced thoughts about people, and just making life a little bit shitter for everyone.

Don't let it get you down, Ziggt. The world is also full of love, adventure and people who can transform your way of seeing the world, so that a chance encounter with someone might suddenly open a vista onto other worlds, other constellations: giving you a sudden sense of freedom and limitless, joyous being.
Thanks

catfromjapan can you stop posting inspirational messages? I'd made up my mind to adopt an earlier one from you as my motto and now you've posted another one.

I'm going to mull them over with a glass of red wine in a warm and cosy restaurant at lunchtime.

OP, YANBU and next time this happens you should scream, "Let me through for my coffee, bitch".

Totally. There's no way that could go wrong for you.
