To the think that male only places of worship should be illegal in the uk

it's ok for men and women to pray seperately if that is what their religion dictates. I see nothing wrong with a male only mosque if there is a female only mosque next door. Such mosques have existed in China for hundreds of years.

I feel that mosques like this one in soho should not be allowed in the uk. They have banned women completely.

x2boys I don't understand your logic at all. I fully accept that some people have religious beliefs and I'm certainly not out to change anyone's mind. However to make the jump to saying that I have made nasty comments just becuase I expressed my beliefs is bizarre. If a religious person on MN called me evil, or said I was damned for all eternity becuase I don't believe in their god, I would not be offended - I would just accept that is what people of that religion think. There are no doubt plenty of religious people in the world who think I should be stoned to death for aposty. Doesn't bother me, I just think they are nuts!

Repeating something specific that you know needles some people, even when they've asked you not to, can't be anything else but goady Anthony.

Nobody's said you can't say what you think, and you know full well that there are ways of saying it that don't sneer so blatently.

Harriedharriet · 28/02/2016 00:06

Antony, you were being provocative.
You were called on it.
Don't hijack what could be an informative and interesting debate.
In short - turn the other cheek son. (Aware of misuse but can't think of anything witty! 😇

I've grown inured to being told I'm going to burn in hell or similar, so maybe you should just deal with it...

yes, the tiptoeing around religion drives me crazy. The double standard is astounding. For some reason, it's wrong to tell people they believe in sky fairies, but it's ok to have christian worship in state schools, be told you will burn in hell for eternity, or be told that you are morally inferior if you are gay.

The CofE has female bishops now, and so many female female vicars that one of my DC asked me, in all serious, 'Can men be vicars?'

WOW! how 1990s of the CofE. it's a difference of degree (which is important) but not kind. Less sexism is better, but still behind the rest of society.
