Princess parties

To completely think that the only people who benefit from Princess parties are the growing number of "competitive groups of people". I arranged a party last week in full faith that my daughter would "be delighted with her experience of meeting x amount of Disney princesses". They were crap tbh and nothing like advertised. I parted with over £100 for a total waste of time. Go on slate me. I deserve it. Gutted!

They're either amazing, or god awful - like the disney princesses after a break down but pre rehab!

Check reviews? Sorry it was a shitty experience but you always need to check and perhaps spend a bit more to make sure you get a decent quality experience.

Reviews can be misleading - can be a load of rellies, or can be about someone else who isn't the girl they send

That's why you go with a reputable , established company with testimonials, including photos.

I checked the reviews which were all brilliant. The actual "Princesses" were dreadful. Yes Elsa was very much a bloke in a blue dress with a wig hanging off. I feel so stupid. My dd had a crap birthday party. I am thinking of ways to make it up to her. Elsa and Anna were advertised as a singing duo. They did not sing!

I think any real life dressed up person playing a princess is never ever going to be anywhere near as good as their imagination, so even the best ones will always be a disappointment. Always avoid and come up with an excuse!

We've been to 2 parties, one with Elsa & 1 with Barbie & they've been great. Both ran the party kept the kids going & entertained throughout. Wish I'd booked one instead of bouncy castle tbh!

Does it depend on age of kids?

Kids (mainly girls) seem to have this big princess phase aged about 4 and then they get over it completely. I wouldn't lose too much sleep facilitating what is a very short phase.

I've seen the Elsa we're having twice and she was excellent so I booked her not any other one similar. It really is the personality of the Princess that makes the experience. Hell I could dress up and have a bash at belting out let it go! Wouldn't pay myself £80 for the effort though

Oh sorry, not the point . YANBU. We had Elsa one year, from a renowned Princess party business, she was very good and I have seen many of their Princesses and took DD to a ball with them where there were 7 of them. They are brilliant.

Another company has been set up. They are shit. My cousin used them and had Anna and Elsa, they turned up, stood in the middle of the room in dresses and waited for children to come over to them, then left after half an hour. I could have done that!

The company I used say they have been to drama school and try to act and sound like the characters, plus they sing and dance do games and stories. The costumes are amazing! The other company, hi I suspect must be cheaper which is why people seem to be liking them on Facebook, don't seem to do anything at all apart from stand in a dress. Anyone can do that!

Loving how everyone's blaming the customer, who says she checked the review

I know people who have booked with companies who did a great job at their friend's kids party - proper childrens enterainers in a costume - engaged the kids etc.
Then the company obv took on bookings they couldn't fill and sends some poor teenage girl in in a costume that's fitted for someone else and it's cringey

It's not always naiivity on the customers part!

OP, if advertised as singing, and didn't sing! refund.

Oh YANBU! We had an "Elsa" who was downright terrifying. Her wig was like something she'd stolen from a fisherman. The children were scared of her!

Well, I am 40 something, short, slightly chunky, rather plain, and cannot sing to save my life. Perhaps I should invest in a few wigs and gowns and give it a go myself? A few extra bob wouldn't go amiss.

MattDillon I think we must of used the same company! Elsa really did resemble Mrs Doubtfire but in a blue dress! Am in "negotiations" with the company for a refund for a non singing (Man in drag) Elsa and Anna. She is having none of it at the moment.
