Grin

NC (does chicken noises)
I am laughing about this by the way.

History:
I have a school friend who I have known through the DC for about 2 years now- very friendly, lots of sleepovers with the kids/camping/going out for dinner.
They all had been hit by the flu bug a couple of weeks ago and as I would ask for any friend I offered help. I was thinking I could make some soup of bread for them, run some errands etc.

"Yes actually you could help"
Pause
"Can XXXX (Dh's name) come and tile our utility room? "We're all so ill we're not able to manage it"

Grin

Well I wasn't sure how to answer that so did the usual "he will come out and give you a quote when you're feeling better" was met with her hanging up on me.

The woman has not spoken to me since.

Cheeky, much?

wow!! the mind boggles. and after you were kind enough to offer practical help - to a flu ridden household as well!

from your posts I'm getting that you haven't had enough time to be really good friends with her? If she was a long standing good friend, I would suggest calling in case something else was awry, but it sounds like it isn't, so I wouldn't bother.

That is one of the maddest things I've ever heard.

I fear now I have been inadequate in my attempts to aid ill friends in the past. Instead of cooking for them or picking up their children I shall instead assist them with some non essential redecorating. After all, nothing beats the flu blues than a set of new tiles.Hmm

As it happens ive got a similar flu/cold bug and if someone was to start re tiling in my house I would find the strength to raise myself from my sick bed and physically throw them out so I could rest in silence.

Well gosh sakes, tiling is hard work, I'm sure they couldn't have done it themselves in fairness Grin

I coughed this morning. Please will you come round and paint my living room? Grin

She sounds like a complete user, but if it's any consolation she is now probably kicking herself for ruining her long-term plan of getting your DH to re-tile their kitchen, bathroom/s and utility room. You're well rid Slayer, but it is sad for your respective DCs.

Cheeky cow!
My crazy neighbour asked me to tell my dp to replace her bathroom floor. I did ask him, he refused, and she said we didn't have a proper relationship if he doesn't do what he's told!
She hasn't spoken to me since.

Utility tiles is code for Swingers? Blush

But you made that up right?

Remember previous scoffing at DragonButter, Dirty Sanchez and Netflix & Chill...

If you're pimping out your DH for tiling, I have a bathroom that needs doing... seriously: wtaf?! With friends like this, etc etc - some people have a right bloody nerve!

Reminds me of a friend who wanted me to adjust her wedding dress for free. I ran my own business at the time - making bridal and formal wear. I wasn't considered good enough to make the dress, just adjust it and not be paid.
I grew a spine and said no, the friendship rapidly cooled.
By the way op, I have a herniated disc in my spine, when can I expect your dh to come and fit my new bathroom? Grin Grin

We've tiled most of our bathroom, just the window frame left, but we've all been struck down with a sickness bug. When can he be here?

I've got a verruca on my big toe. Can your DP come and build our extension please?

Look on the bright side - better a clearly OTT request now - which you can refuse - than a long series of small things which would 'train' you into a slavish role.

It's the sort of reply me and my friend would give though. but only as a joke. At least I think she was joking. Grin

Actually I know she is. Grin
