There has been a proliferation of people in super dry outerwear. Everywhere you look the the logo emblazoned on the back right shoulder. I saw a whole family the other day branded with "super dry" on their puffa jackets. Why????? Am I an old fogey or is it a bit vulgar?

Whatamess, my mumis genuinely posh and would use rather ghastly and oneself without thinking anything off it, she is posh but she is not a snob! Different social groups use their own language and no one way of talking is better than another

Might not be to your taste, but vulgar, really?

Whatamess I agree that vulgar is a bit outmoded as an expression, a bit of a throwback to the 1950s perhaps. In my earlier post I was going to say that Superdry would be called chavtastic in my household (as would lots of other clothes covered in logos) but decided the MN police would like that even less than vulgar...

Ds2 is 14 and likes Superdry. It's good quality shirts and hoodies. He and his friends seem to have cast off the heavily logo'd stuff and only wear the small embroidered chest logo stuff. That goes for all brands. Whether it's Superdry or Armani.

I wouldn't describe it as vulgar though. I hate myself for it but I do smirk at those Middle Aged parents with teenage kids wearing the same logos and whole families decked out in Superdry/hollister. But I appreciate that they probably think I'm
Old before my time in my m&s or tu clothing.

I've just looked at my jacket to see if it's a branded one. Turns out it is, it's from Mountain Warehouse, according to a tiny logo on the left breast. That has been put on upside down. Not the jacket, I know which way a jacket goes on, the logo has been sewed on upside down. It's a skiing jacket so perhaps they expect the wearer to be found upside down.

Superdrys alright for teenagers, especially younger teenagers.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone over the age of 20 go in one of their shops.

Probably not allowed!

Superdry is the brand of choice for the middle aged man who cheats on his wife and wants to look, er, youthful again particularly if he has a huge paunch and chicken legs Smile

I'm 41 and have some Superdry stuff. Love the quality (no nasty polyester either) but hate the logos on stuff. I don't buy the heavily branded things, only dresses and jumpers with s small logo on a label, which I take off with a stitch unpicker.

I used to think it was free clothes given out with nappies.

and ageing male work colleagues 50+ in a kind of desperate menopausal kicking and screaming "I am yoof ful" stylee.

There's a thread at the moment where the OP's ex is rocking the superdy + distressed denim skinny jeans look.
He used to be a slob, but is now dressing like a fashion model.

Wonder if it's still going? (Was hilarious)

E.g. I have this dress, and have taken the logo off. I think it's great, and not vulgar.

I love superdry because although it is a bit pricy, it is good quality, washes well and lasts for years.

I like Jack Wills stuff as well.

Not all of Superdry has big logos.

It is still very popular amongst pre teen and teen kids here. You see adults wearing it but more so younger people.

I really thought you meant vulgar in that sense, in the same way none of us could stop laughing when my brother got his wife a Bagpuss watch.

Not vulgar. A bit common maybe. Everyone walking round the Trafford centre seems to be in Superdry/Hollister/Jack Wills.

Vulgar is when things are blingy and flash. Rolex watches with diamonds/Chanel handbags/huge diamond rings etc. One must be discrete with one's wealth not flash it otherwise you're vulgar!

I have a North Face jacket. I'm over 40 though. The jacket was in the sale and it is really warm and snug - ideal for playground duty in the winter!

One of my superdry items is a black jersey maxi dress similar to this.

I like a black maxi in summer, v easy to throw on and wear with sandals, flattering, leg-covering etc. I tried on and ordered several from places like Hush, Boden, Gap etc. All of them were not long enough for me, flimsy fabric, frumpy/baggy cut or otherwise not OK. Superdry one is really long, really nice quality jersey and the perfect cut. One tiny bit of logo right at the bottom hem. It's not a label thing, I just think they have some really nice stuff. And it wasn't even as expensive as the others!

DS1 and 2 both have jackets - long lasting, practical and warm. I've got a fleece and body warmer - although DS1 thinks that's v emmarassing and I'm too old. Did turn up on hol once with MIL, SIL and me all in different coloured Superdry sweatshirts - that was a bad moment!

It's a bit like those NAF coats that were everywhere about 25/30 years ago can't believe it's been that long

Lol, I'll tell my teens their Superdry coats are vulgar!

Mind you, all the zips are rather excessive if we're criticising.

I think they were super trendy about 3 years ago, but not now.

I have the coat, the parka with the three zips. actually two of them
It's warm, practical and washes well and has thumb holes, I never do up all three zips either!

These days I just wear what I want and what I like, so long as it is appropriate for the occasion.
