to think that if I buy an 'applicator' tampon I shouldn't have to 'manually' insert it? IYSWIM!

Am I doing something wrong?! Granted, I don't use them very often but ffs! I usually buy Tampax Pearl - have no problem with them - however the other day I had to buy ordinary Tampax with applicator. The tampon itself will just not come out of the plastic part, I've wasted about 10 of the things now. I'm 45 years old and sitting reading the instructions on how to insert a tampon!
Is it just me or has anyone else had this problem with these?
Maybe TMI - sorry! but I insert it in the normal way, pull out plastic - tampon is still in it! Angry
It wouldn't be so bad but they're bloody expensive! When you've got PMS you dont need this to wind you up!

I have the same problem with the green tampax, all the others are fine strangely enough.

You need to twist the inner tube bit before using it as the tampon itself gets stuck in the inner bit when you first pull it out iyswim. So when you push the inner bit the tampon doesn't come out like it should. Twisting the inner bit first makes sure it isn't stuck.

It's why I use lilets not tampax. I hate tampax with a passion, they're so uncomfortable too.

Katkincake - yes at least it made me feel young again! Grin
I'm glad to hear its not just me - I'm going to chuck them and go back to the Pearl ones. If I complain they would probably send me a free box of the dodgy ones - just my luck!
and i found they pinched yeah that too!! Buggers!

Tbh I find all tampax a total faff and pita. Used lillets until recently when I became a mooncup convert.

I've just put one in an no, no problems! Though I am disappointed because from the title I genuinely believed for a millisecond that you thought that applicator tampons came to life and inserted themselves once you opened the wrapping, and sat on the loo in the right position... Grin

I love a lil-let.

kali110 · 23/02/2016 16:50

My only problem with the things is that they always come out of their packets in my bag!!

CakeNinja · 23/02/2016 16:56

I've never got the hang of using the applicator ones, and if you're poking something up there anyway, why not just the actual tampon?
I don't understand how they work!
If caught short, I too have been known to use an applicator one minus the applicator Grin

I have had this problem with the regular tamper with cardboard applicator, I have to use the Pearl ones. It seemed hit or miss with the cardboard ones send yowch with the punching. I much prefer the Pearl ones though currentky being 34wks preg I had forgotten about the joys of tampax etc til I read this thread.

That would be brilliant!! Wonder if the Dragons would invest in that? Grin
