I have been here 10 years too Gretchen but name change every few months.

I do that typing out a response then deleting it too. A lot. I very rarely start a thread and if I do, I just expect there to be at least 1 poster looking to take a pop or shove in a downer, wherever the thread is and whatever it's about.

I agree springs. Sometimes it can get 2 or so pages in and you think 'ooh this is going really well' than boom! one poster arrives to bring it all down.

I'm totally confused by this thread, because I have no idea what 'moldies' are. Will some kind person please enlighten me?

I wasn't around but they were (back in mists of time) a group of Mumsnetters who got fed up with the place & went off & set up their own site,but it was by invitation only & lots of people got upset..

About 200 years ago a gang of regular mumsnetters decided they wanted to just hang out with the cool kids and set up another forum which was by invitation only.

Lots of hurt feelings are people were either not invited who thought we in with the cool kids or who were vetoed by some of the coolest kids (not exactly sure how it worked).

Some people were genuinely upset by it as people they thought they were "friendly" with online turned out to be not so friendly after all.

Not sure if there arestill some threads knocking around about it.
