People should cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing

It's come to my attention that covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing no longer appears to be a 'thing'.

It does my head in. The next time you are in the shops, just look how many people do this. Far more don't than do. Why???? There appears to be no age or sex discrimination either.

When I'm in public, AIBU to ask not to be subjected to other peoples germs being hurled in my direction?

It's disgusting. Agree 100%.

Coughs and sneezes spread diseases

I think that you try your best to cover your mouth, but even if they do, then they will still be 'shooting germs', in all directions.

Then they will spread them to every surface that they touch, until they can wash their hands.

All you can do is practice good hand hygiene, yourself and keep yourself as healthy as possible (so your immune system is strong).

Where I live (Canada) people cough and sneeze into the crook of their arm, not hand, for that reason Birds.

Was just coming to say same as fish. I automatically did this anyway then I read it was better so I teach it to the DCs.

I wish other rparents would teach their DCs to do anything as it's disgusting for the amount that of children that don't do it, then the parents just stand there saying nothing. No wonder kids catch everything around.

Yes, must sneeze into your elbow. No point in sneezing into your hand and then touching something.

It's how mine were taught in school as well.

I have forced trained my children to hold their sneezes in. And they haven't exploded, burst anything, failed to get over colds blah blah.

Of course, coughs should be contained.

Maybe we should have public health sessions on tv educating people to sneeze into their elbows. Seriously.
