Trying to download photos off iphone 4s onto laptop. Able to do this but then they open as Word doc mumbo jumbo so no good! THought this would be a 2 min job!

Think I'm going to have to, thanks! Just downloaded Dropbox but that does the same thing, converts to Word

What program is associated with your photo files? It sounds like they're associated with Word for some reason. If you right click on one of the photos and go to Open With you should be able to choose a better program for them.
