Idris Elba is so much the antithesis of a likeable sex-symbol that I would hate Bond (which I have loved in almost all his incarnations).

Ioan is the Welsh and Romanian equivalent of John. The Welsh bit I knew - Google just told me the Romanian bit.

Ioan needs a 'House' or a 'Wire' to jumpstart his career in the US.

Ioan would be a good choice as Bond, especially as he's a proper actor, but isn't doing much career wise.

Chiwetel is a great actor and can do quietly menacing as he did in Serenity but he'd be better as the main bad guy. There's something of the rogue about him.

I think that Bond is a poisoned chalice - it makes us forget what a really, really good actor Daniel Craig is/was.

For me, he needs to be British or Irish. And manly. And tall. And tough, and seemingly intelligent.
He also needs to have good hair.

So Statham (huh?) , Sam Heughan, Cumberbatch, Aiden Turner all out.

Am fine with different ethnicities, so Chiwitel, Adrian Lester can stay in running. Maybe Raza Jaffrey?

He needs to be able to act a bit so that superman one is out.
