First Grandchild born early hours of this morning, little boy weighing 7lb 4. Mum, Dad and Baby boy doing well, new Granny totally over the moon, (so is Granddad BTW).

Going to be called Linus after my DILs late Father and Peter after my DH .

Going to see him later on.

Did I mention I am so HAPPY and I am CRYING

Andrew et al, don’t despair – DP’s mum had given up hope of her two older sons producing kids, was hanging on for the 20-somethings and then her second boy announced that his new GF (me) was producing one in eight months’ time – and she hadn’t even met me!

Thank you everyone for your congrats, Linus is the most beautiful baby in the whole world, I didn't expect such a rush of total love when I first saw him, still weepy, me and DIL were both in tears this afternoon much to the bewilderment of the menfolk. I am going to be called Nana and Linus's other Granny will be Nanny (DIL's decision ).

DH took lot of photos as I forgot my phone so will put a few up later - thanks again everyone for your good wishes.

Congratulations! Grandparents are so special, mine filled a huge void where my parents should've stepped up,but didn't.x

Congratulations 💐 A few friends recently have become grandparents and I can see a real excited happiness in them.
My dds are young adults so maybe a while to wait yet ,but it's definitely something we look forward to in the future.

OP was DIL's late father called Linus after Dr Pauling who was responsible for the polio vaccine? The name became popular after that, and well it might.

My American friend said that grandchildren were our reward before we get to heaven! Too right!

Congratulations and enjoy your new grandson. I became a Nana to my gorgeous 4 month old baby grand daughter last September and she really is a joy. Grandchildren bring so much happiness to families.

TBH the only Linus I had heard of before the name was mooted for GS was Linus Roache Bill Roaches son

And to crown it all a relation by marriage - distant, but a lovely woman married to a lovely bloke - had a little girl this evening!
