First Grandchild born early hours of this morning, little boy weighing 7lb 4. Mum, Dad and Baby boy doing well, new Granny totally over the moon, (so is Granddad BTW).

Going to be called Linus after my DILs late Father and Peter after my DH .

Going to see him later on.

Did I mention I am so HAPPY and I am CRYING

Congratulations Flowers

You must now practice a very very important granny manoeuvre... The ability to produce a whole album of photos from the bottom of your handbag faster than the speed of the light Grin

DS is 31 this month, good career, making money, just bought a nice house but it's lacking in a certain item of soft furnishing!

Ah well. Great-niece, his cousin's daughter, is 18m and gorgeous and adores me. And him too!

MrsPurchase · 15/02/2016 09:19

Flowers Brilliant news
A good friend of mine is due today too Smile

Andrewofgg · 15/02/2016 09:20

*Oh please - the modern GP has the photos on the phone. Not in a handbag or a wallet. This is the twenty-first century!

mygrandchildrenrock · 15/02/2016 09:27

Congratulations!

Pseudo341 · 15/02/2016 09:27

Nicest AIBU thread I've ever seen.

Congratulations! Enjoy your cuddles :)

Congratulations to you & to your family. Flowers

Grandparents are treasures and I miss mine immensely.

I'm now 36 but I see the love my parents and MIL give my children. Enjoy beautiful Linus, love love love the name. You sound like you're going to be a wonderful Granny. He's lucky to have you. Flowers

Andrew, my DS was 33 when the happy day arrived. Time yet for you!

I have photos on my phone and in my handbag!

(and by my chair, by my bed, on the fridge.......)

TattyDevine · 15/02/2016 09:36

CONGRATULATIONS! Grin

BikeRunSki · 15/02/2016 09:37

Brilliant !!!!!

My DS (7) was burn the year DM retired. Although we live 200 miles away we visit often and they adore each other. Such a lovely relationship.

ajandjjmum · 15/02/2016 09:38

PovertyPain · 15/02/2016 09:47

Congratulations Granny. Isn't that just the loveliest word in the world, 'granny'?

schroedingersdodo · 15/02/2016 09:47

Congratulations!!! Lovely name :)

bushtailadventures · 15/02/2016 09:55

Congratulations!! Flowers

I've been a Granny for just over a year now, I can honestly say it's one of the best things in the world! I was so surprised though by the strength of my feelings for dgd, still makes me cry occasionally.

From one Granny to another..make sure you give Linus an extra big cuddle, it feels awesome Smile

MissFlight · 15/02/2016 09:55

Congratulations Smile my first gc was born 3 weeks ago, he's gorgeous and I love being a granny!

timemaychangeme · 15/02/2016 09:56

Yay! Congratulations. Absolutely love the name Linus. Always makes me think of the adorable blankey-toting boy in Peanuts.

I became a grandma 5 months ago and it's amazing. Here's to imminent cuddles and much love and happiness.

Bingowingslikeashieldofsteel · 15/02/2016 10:56

Congratulations Flowers I became a granny yesterday morning and it's just simply fab - my granddaughter is even more perfect than her mum and I never thought that was even possible!

I was with my daughter for her labour and it was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life - totally and utterly worth it though Grin

JenEric · 15/02/2016 11:02

Huge congratulations to you and them. I LOVE the name as well. Thanks

MrsJayy · 15/02/2016 11:08

Trickydecision · 15/02/2016 13:15

Congratulations, many years of pleasure ahead.

The feeling is very different from the arrival of one's own children. I felt I had founded a dynasty and could now die in peace. Well, maybe not just yet, but I bet other grannies will understand.

LisaMumsnet · 15/02/2016 13:25

I just had to smile at your post Oldsu, I just LOVE a proud grandma as I had two myself. My one gran would show everyone - even people on the bus - her beautiful grandchildren. I also love the names Linus and Peter - and the family connections with those names. Your grandchild is very blessed to have such a doting grandmother!
