To get a tattoo?

Not sure what people's opinions are on tattoos.

However, my little boy was born sleeping and I wanted to get a tribute. I have the tiniest anchor tattoo, on my wrist and that means something - this would be near my ankle.

It would be a little teddy bear with wings - we names him 'Angel Teddy' as in 2 first names and that tattoo would be utterly perfect, but is it tack!?

I don't have any tattoos personally but some of them are works of art. I think it's a lovely way to remember your child and keep his memory with you

If anything happened to my DS's this is what I'd do and apparently you can have their ashes blended with the ink, how wonderful is that!

Go for it. I got my first one 3 weeks ago aged 42. It had no real meaning I just liked the look of it

I think tattoos are fine unless they are all over your face and neck.
I think the teddy with angel wings sounds an amazing tribute.

I plan on getting 2 in the next year. Both will be small and subtle, and easily hidden - and both have meaning to me.

There is no reason you shouldn't get one if it matters to you, and clearly, your son matters.

If you can afford it, and you want it, and it wouldn't affect your work prospects (eg some employers don't like visible tattoos) then go for it.

I'm not a huge fan of tattoos but I absolutely "get" memorial tattoos. If I were you I would save up and plan for a long time, say six months to a year, to make sure you are getting absolutely the best you can afford, in terms of artwork and also hygiene and aftercare.

That said, I loathe pictures of teddy bears in all forms so the image itself wouldn't appeal to me (not that it's any of my business) and although it's meaningful to you, strangers eg on holiday might think it was just a tacky teddy. None of their business either, obviously, but if that would bother you then you could go for something more obviously memorial such as a dove, his birth date, a footprint, etc. Did the hospital take a hand- or footprint that could be transferred?

His name and date would be under it, so it might be obvious, especially with the wings

You're getting it for you and your child, not for anyone else, so it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Go for it.

YANBU I just got my first one aged 30 and it represents my mum who passed away 6 years ago. It make me smile every time I look at it. I wish I had done it sooner, I feel closer to her for it. Even though she probably would have hated it.

Do it.. I have had 5 miscarriages, all deeply felt and I want to get five stars on my shoulder, I am a bit scared of the pain, and I know people hate them, but its something I want to do just for me.
