Friend A has arranged a weekend hotel for a group of 6 friends. There was a promotional price that worked out at £70pp dinner, bed. & breakfast based on twin rooms.
Friend A has told me that there was an offer that if you bought 3 rooms you could get the 4th for free. So she's taking the free room at a later date for her & her DP.

I'm not bothered by this, but friends B & C are annoyed & are saying that A & DP shouldn't get the 4th weekend for free & they should spilt the costs equally across the full group (8 ways) . I can see a row developing & part of me thinks that if A takes the free weekend it's her reward for doing all the hassle of organising, which I don't like doing! I'm happy to pay & turn up at the designated place & time. I was happy with the original £70pp price so it is irrelevant if A has a free room.
Any thoughts?

I would think it was a tiny bit cheeky, but wouldn't be bothered enough to ruin a friendship.

I guess it depends how she told you. If she said "there's a free room available, would you mind, seeing as I did all the legwork...?" then not so much of a problem. If she said ""there's a free room, and I'm having it, so there" then I might not have looked on it so favourably.

We had a week in a holiday home with a friend. Friend did all the legwork, so of course I offered her first pick of the bedrooms, and hers was much bigger than ours. No problem! And no way would I expect her to pay more. It's the same thing.

I think if you were all planning a weekend away and then she agreed to organise it and happened upon this deal, fair enough. She's done the work of organising it and luckily she's got a deal where she gets a benefit. However, from your posts I take it that what actually happened was that she saw the offer then asked all of you to go on a trip so that she would get the free room. That is just using people and I wouldn't like that.

My dd was a brides maid for a friend who got a deal like this in a hotel in the Domenican Rep. The bride and groom got the bridal suite for free as enuf guests booked into the hotel for the honeymoon. Cost a lot for the others.
