Does anyone else think Madonna should just chill out and have a rest now?

She's been at war with her ex regarding residency of her son who seems to want to stay in UK with his dad. She's been accused of manipulating laws so she could get to adopt her two kids.

She's also now nearing 60 and hasn't done that much for anyone or any sort of cause but just wants to prance about in a body suit singing outdated songs. Shouldn't she just give it a rest?

I didn't make a pillock of myself on a social network because my friends told me to....you did that.

AnyFucker Yup.. and I'll be crying into my pillow tonight. It's great to know that you own the definition of what constitutes 'making a pillock' of one self, well done you. I'd love to send you a prize.

I give up. Another poster in AIBU? who doesn't understand the function of a question.

lorelei9 · 10/02/2016 18:49

OP, if you don't give a flying fuck about her age, why did you use that as part of your "argument"?

LineyReborn · 10/02/2016 19:17

Oh gosh yes, OP, it was her son not her daughter you had an opinion about.

Feenie · 10/02/2016 19:32

Fucking ridiculous OP. Yes, Madonna, stop now while you're selling out stadiums left, right and centre. And 57 is not pushing 60!

'Pillock' is spot on - and quite kind, under the circs.

Ubik1 · 10/02/2016 19:44

I think you've got too much time on your hands op.

Feenie Thanks! I've actually been testing out new nicknames e.g. PillockBox, InTheBoxPillock, BoxPillockIn....as you can see I'm still deciding, I'll let you know Smile

Ubik1 Yup, too much time infact. I'm trying to see if I can trade my time for cash.

"Pillock" can be a term of endearment in some quarters...

InTheBox · 10/02/2016 21:44

AnyFucker I agree, very true. I'm not being sarcastic here because I'd like to express something genuine. My sisters and I constantly insult each other and the terms we use for each other would not pass for anyone else. In fact, if my sister were to say "you're looking good inthebox" I'd be worried because that's just not how we communicate. Iyswim?

I want to see Madonna on the cover of vanity fair in a basque at 65 so she can beat Caitlin Jenner's claim to be old oldest "woman" on the cover of vanity fair.

Caitlin got a woman's bravery award for that. I think far braver for a 65 year old born woman to don a basque in public.

I raise a glass to Madonna for breaking stereotypes about what older women.

AlpacaMyThings · 11/02/2016 08:37

Back t the thread.....

Haven't read the thread (sorry) but there was a post just the other day about how Elton John isn't as good anymore. The difference btw Macca, EJ, even Ton Jones is they don't prance around half naked thinking they are still in their prime. And EJ has provided a safe and loving home for his children and isn't as yet parading family problems all over the press.

Anyway, carry on arguing as I think you were doing.......

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 11/02/2016 08:42

I saw Madonna recently on tour, I'm not a huge fan but thought it would be worth seeing.
She is super fit, and she can sing. She was witty and entertaining.

I was sceptical about going but fair play to her she was bloody good.

Mag314 · 11/02/2016 08:49

I think she should keep working.

On the subject of rocco i think she play smarter. Accept that he eants to be in london and work on maintiningba no judgement communication.

TwatMagnet · 11/02/2016 08:53

There's only one thing in the world worse than being talked about..........

Ah so we all misunderstood your OP. Well There We Are Then

Well no. As you might not have quite discovered, MN is not a hive mind and there are often differing views which carry equal significance (depending on the topic). I often look at the boards due to the plethora of differing views. In this particular case, this particular thread, you can see that in the main it's been decided that IABU and also sexist and ageist but some others have proffered different opinions.

This is exactly what I thought would happen but please don't imagine yourself in a gang in which you intend to be a passive member of. We're not in high school, you can just say that 'you' have misunderstood. But have the guts to do so and not seek comfort in the majority view; i.e. you claiming we all misunderstood my OP. Not the case.

InTheBox · 11/02/2016 14:45

TwatMagnet Is the next part "not being talked about"? I'm sure I read that somewhere but don't know if I'm making it up as the only thing I can recall at the moment is the saying "all press is good press"?

Bigbiscuits If I were to honestly write my opinion on Caitlyn Jenner, I think I'd get banned. Suffice to say that if CJ has received a bravery award then so should my radiators for services to keeping my house warm especially in winter when they have to turn on at 4am to make sure the house is warm before everyone gets up.

AlpacaMyThings We're not arguing, one of the main things that annoy me here is that men can have discussion and debate and disagree with each other, but the second it's a group of women it suddenly becomes an 'argument' or a 'hysterical' discussion.

The main point of the thread I started I still believe to be true. It's perfectly acceptable to disagree with it as it is perfectly fine for me (or others) to see it as a valid POV.

Neveradullm0ment · 11/02/2016 15:15

Whatever her motives we need women like Madonna. I think she should have a break now though - to try and deal with what is going on with her son. It sounds like she might need it. As one mother to another I would say 'sit down have a biscuit a cup of tea and sort it out'.
Madonna is a real woman who has had to fight it out to get where she is, I think a lot of younger stars owe her big time.
Caitlin Jenner - why is he/she getting awards? For anything other than sporting achievements that is.

abbsismyhero · 13/02/2016 08:07

i would much rather caitlin jenner cut it out and paul mccartney should quit trying to be cool (in my personal opinion but ive never been a fan)

madonna? well? she pulls it off don't know how but she does and im hoping the day she doesn't she retires gracefully and doesn't try to "hang on" for the sake of ego i just don't think that day has arrived yet

merseyside · 13/02/2016 08:13

The whole son thing hasn't put her in a nice light at all. All that #nosausage shit is just humiliating and indicative of someone who has no boundaries.

Plus if your 16 year old wants to spend Christmas with their other parent it is extremely un-sprezz to attempt to force them to play happy families with you through the courts.

And I also think Jagger, McCartney etc should give it a rest. Urgh they're dreadful.... Smile
