Aibu to hate my washing machine (seriously)

Had my latest washing machine for two years. Or is it three now? Anyway, I can't stand it!! It irritates me HUGELY.

Set a full load of white shirts, t shirts, socks and undies off for a wash at 9.30. The display said it would take 2 hrs 35 min (long cottons wash with an extra rinse). Just been back in kitchen and it now says 1 hr 15 mins.

It is taking the p is it not? What is the point of having a smart machine if it isn't actually smart at all?

I shall continue to mutter unpleasant things to it every time I have to use it until it gives up. Its a bollocks of a machine, that's what it is.

Oh no- stop it with the Beko horror stories!
That and my leaky valve will keep me awake at night....

PrimalLass · 18/02/2016 23:10

I love Beko appliance. Apart from the fact that I want the fridge freezer to die and the bastarding thing had been going for 12 years. I need a bigger one. And my tumble drier is fab, unlike the Hotpoint one that just boiled the clothes into a super-creased heap.

unexpectedworms · 18/02/2016 23:15

I'm going to add a lone voice against my Miele dryer. It will only dry on the longest setting, despite the filter being cleaned every time and vacuumed out occasionally. Even then the clothes can be damp! What advice do you have?

On the other hand my Miele dishwasher is fab and my Bosch washer is going strong at 10 years old. Those Germans know how to make a white good (I think I got a Friday afternoon made dryer)

Well done first wash with my Beko- so far so good.
Just irritating leak to deal with on service valve- great.... drip, drip....

I hate hate hate my washing machine. It was new installed by landlord when we moved in last October and refuses to finish a cycle on its own. It's one of these new Eco machines that weigh the washing etc but keeps complaining about low water pressure. Landlord refuses to do anything about it. It makes me seethe and grind my teeth just thinking about it.

miserablemoo · 21/02/2016 17:11

Hate hate hate my hotpoint washer. Broke down at 5 months old. Had two engineers out to it. None of them fixed it. Wrong part has been ordered. I have had no washer now for 16 days and still no idea when it's going to be fixed. I spent Saturday night washing my child's bedding in the bath as she had been sick in bed. It takes forever to dry anything. My hands are actually cracked and bleeding now due to all the hand washing.

Hotpoint customer services do not care. Have never called me once to tell me what's going on. I have to constantly ring them. I will never ever touch this brand again. If it wasn't 5 months old I would just get a new one but I can't afford it and for £300 a machine it should last longer than 5 months.

Sorry for moaning but I hate having no washing machine!

My old washer lasted over ten years!!!!

greathat · 21/02/2016 18:51

My washing machine is going on forever and I hate it. I keep willing it too die, but it never does

FairyDustDreamer · 21/02/2016 18:57

I sympathise miserablemoo.
Life without a washing machine is time consuming.
At the moment I am in the honeymoon period with this machine...

I agree with FithColumnist - you need to LTB, this relationship is clearly abusive.

Snozwanger · 21/02/2016 19:10

Bibbity we have a Bosch and experienced the same problem after 7 years. It's designed to add time to the wash cycle if it detects too much detergent. It thinks there's too much detergent because your heating element has broken therefore the water is not hot enough to desolve it properly. DH bought a new element online from Bosch for about £50 and fitted it after watching an ESpares instruction video. It was fairly straightforward apart from refitting the door seal. Do you know anyone who's good at fixing things?
Here's the video

CoperCabana · 21/02/2016 19:12

It states the maximum time for its capacity and the cycle you choose, weighs it, then refines the time. Surely this is a good thing.

My gorgeous shiny singing black LG does similar on a drying cycle. Everything starts on 4 hours something, then it revises the time based on the weight of the drying. I loves it.

CoperCabana · 21/02/2016 19:15

Miserable I feel your pain. I had an ongoing issue with my Indeshit washer dryer (not a spelling mistake!) and I ended up giving up ans scrapping it. They are the same company as Hotpoint. Would never go near one of their appliances ever again.

Enkopkaffetak · 21/02/2016 19:28

We have a Siemens it was bought 10 years ago by dh. I was in hospital having had my gallbladder removed when machine died. He said "oh i will wait" I said "NO we have 4 children under 9" Ordered him to go to a specific shop and told him get me a Miele or a Bosh. He returned saying " I got a Siemens the guy said it was the sister company to Bosh" I replied " Siemens is fine" and its great

I do not like my new tumble drier so much though and am looking worried at my Siemens hoping it will last a bit longer. Not sure they make them like that anymore.

PegsPigs · 21/02/2016 19:31

I swore I wouldn't get another beeping nagging Bosch again after my last one finally died at 9 years old. But the new one has everything I wanted in the right price bracket and was Which recommended. It does tell lies about how long it will take but I just go out and leave it to it if it's a full load. And it has a child lock which was crucial with DD1 and DD2 is not long off walking so will get twice the use!

2rebecca · 21/02/2016 19:35

I have a Miele and mainly use its 20 minute express wash. If I'm doing longer washes the timings can be random as it's too clever for its own good and the time given at the beginning even with it weighing the load is often 30+ minutes different from the actual time taken. It also doesn't like drying partly dried things and tends to make them damper first unless i use the hot air cycle.
It does have lots of clever washes many of which take forever.

NeuNewNouveau · 21/02/2016 19:42

Yes my Bosch also changed the time on an apparently random basis. But the magic for me is the on/off button which means you can stop the wash and add the forgotten sick or whatever. That to me is absolute magic 😀

LookAtAllThesePhucksIGive · 21/02/2016 19:43

I had an Indesit Moon. Now that was a piece of shit. Sometimes things like baby vests (poonami'd to fuck) or period stained underwear or sheets needed to go through twice (sometimes thrice) depending on whether it could be arsed or not. I was seduced by the design. It promised no more slimy detergent drawers to clean and instead gave me a slimy spongy circle of stink to wrestle with instead. Plus the little tune used to play whenever the fuck it felt like it. Once upon first use then not again until my mum was telling me about her pot throwing poltergeist. Wanker.

miserablemoo · 21/02/2016 23:17

Have to say I got it through ao and they have been brilliant. I would buy with them again.

If I had the money I would buy a new one. I have to ring them again tomorrow as still no news from them and it's been a week.

I have spent all day hand washing my dogs beds and towels as they are muddy. Plus the kids school coats. Having no washer has certainly meant I have lived up to my user name on here!

Jaxinthebox · 22/02/2016 08:34

I have a Miele Washing Machine - and I adore it, it does everything that it should. I look after it and it looks after my laundry. So that is my J'adore item.

My loathe with a fucking fuckity fucking passion is my stupid Bosch dishwasher. Bought 2 years ago to replace the best dishwasher in the whole entire Universe! Bosch, when it used to be a guaranteed 'good make'

It only washes things properly on 'industrial, will melt the fucking sun' takes 2hrs 30 setting and god forbid you put your glasses in that have been used for anything except water, it leaves 'bits' of smoothie or fresh orange and if you so much as put anything that has had potato on, leaves a starchy, gritty, spudtastic finish to EVERY single item. THIS dishwasher was purchased on reviews that were decent, as being one of the 'last made in Germany' before it all turned to shitty cheapo plastic tat.

I despise this dishwasher, we ALL do and I end up hand washing glasses to remove the 'grit' and then putting in dishwasher... and yes, I do a dishwasher clean, I use salt, rinse aid and tablets recommended for my machine and clean out filters etc, but still it is just rubbish.

Ive tried talking nicely to it, but have reverted to muttering 'piece of shit' every time I walk past it.

2rebecca · 22/02/2016 11:31

We have a small size Seimans dishwasher and it's great. 30 min quick cycle or 70 min standard. There are longer ones we rarely bother with.

We also have a direct drive LG which plays a little tune when finished, so much better than the passive aggressive repeated beeping of the machine we had before. The only thing that annoys me is how long it takes to work out how long the wash cycle will be - standing there waiting to see if it has decided this will be a mega wash and therefore I need to change the settings so it will be finished sooner.
