My ex DH was a mean fucker as well, barely gave me a penny for our 2 DDs. I look back now and truly don't know how I survived it, there were times when I was desperate, and on anti-depressants. So skint. Meanwhile he was having Bermuda holidays, and driving a brand new Lexus. Now? DDs are aged 21 & 20, both at Uni and working too, doing well. Im self-employed and doing ok. He wants a relationship with DDs now, forever phoning them they don't mind him but they tell me they see me as their mum & their dad, Im the one who raised them. They're not that bothered about him.
Meantime he is stuck with 2nd wife & their 3 DCs in a miserable marriage. I know this, as he whinges to DDs about it. She refused to go back to work after having 3rd DC. He is now pretty much broke, and very bitter. So now he knows what it feels like to have fuck all. A wife & 3 school aged DCs to financially support, that should keep him busy for a good while. How the world turns...
So you see, "Things" don't mean shit, OP. He can show off now so what, who knows what the future will bring, in the meantime you will get through this, enjoy your family as best you can now, and know that in the end it'll be worth it.
