Or am I being lulled by his make-up team and the strange studio lighting on The Voice.

Think I'm getting a bit of a crush Blush

Also Sparkling I went to the Rum Runner club in Birmingham in the eighties. ( the one that Duran Duran owned ). Sadly they weren't there but it was a great club. Lots of men wearing make up in the ladies loos!!

Destinysdaughter · 07/02/2016 00:44

I think if you weren't a teen in the eighties you've got no right to comment!

< lighthearted, obvs > Smile

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2016 00:45

The 80s can't be beaten IMO. You had to be there. Smile Around about now in the 80s i would have been on the dancefloor. Not appreciating it enough probably.

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2016 00:46

I only have to hear the first few seconds of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's extended version of Relax and I am right back there in that club Destinys.

AdriftOnMemoryBliss · 07/02/2016 00:46

i wasn't quite a teen in the 80's, but i still like him and his music, and i love watching him on The Voice.

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2016 00:47

I was too young for the Rum Runner. Sad It was all about Millionaires/Snobs/Bobby Browns/Hawkins Wine Bar by the time I was there.

primitivemom · 07/02/2016 00:48

Have always had a thing for him Wink

Destinysdaughter · 07/02/2016 00:57

I longed to be part of the futurist/new romantic/Blitz club scene in London but was only 17 and lived in a crappy Midlands town! Sad

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2016 01:00

Ooh no I was happy in the Birmingham 'burbs I thought Birmingham was where it was at. Grin

I did move further South eventually. I now venture into Birmingham once a year to see Strictly. What a difference a few decades make. Sad

Feenie · 07/02/2016 01:07

Makes your 'flesh crawl'? Hmm

Sounds like homophobia is alive and well on MN.

Destinysdaughter · 07/02/2016 01:30

Not dissing Brum, I was in Coventry. Brum was a big exciting city to me!

Feenie · 07/02/2016 02:03

I'm with Bear, something about him makes me shudder. Why would you have an appreciation thread about him?

Weird

Explain, please, why the mere concept of having an appreciation thread makes you 'shudder'?

More homophobic crap.

Awaiting a response where the poster assures me some of her best friends are gay Hmm

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 07/02/2016 02:21

I can't get past the image of him picking up litter doing community service Hmm

Feenie · 07/02/2016 02:30

Yeah? Try fucking harder.

GloGirl · 07/02/2016 02:33

He makes my flesh crawl too. I'm not homophobic, I think his crime was awful.

And nearly every Cheryl thread someone brings up her conviction.

Feenie · 07/02/2016 02:42

I think linking his crime to your flesh crawling is different, although I hate the expression. I think.it should he reserved for the likes of Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris though.

GloGirl · 07/02/2016 02:47

He lured someone to his flat, chained them up to a radiator and threatened him with sex toys. Then beat him as he ran away. In my mind that's a sex crime.

tiddlyipom · 07/02/2016 02:49

I had major crushes on Boy George and Jon Moss.
Then found out they had major crushes on each other too....my teenage heart was broken!
Still love them both...off to google The Voice on youtube now....

WelshMoth · 07/02/2016 07:55

I have a bit of a crush on all three (sorry Palaver) since last week's episode when that lad from Liberty X sang Sia 's Chandelier. That audition got right under my skin.

Rather like all 3 judges. Paloma is a bit too childlike for me.

I've always had a soft spot for BG, criminal offences aside, he has amazing eyes and his voice is lovely. He has a sort of unique charm, but I accept I may well be in the minority. When he first appeared on the scene I was about 18, my mum asked if it was a woman. I loved the 80's.

OohMavis · 07/02/2016 08:38

"that man is wearing a lot of make up"

My five year old said the same thing Grin cue him asking when he's allowed to wear eyeshadow.

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2016 08:40

I do like a bit of make up on the right man. Some can really carry it off.

ClaudiaApfelstrudel · 07/02/2016 08:44

no, absolutely not my type at all

Joolsy · 07/02/2016 08:50

Sorry haven't read all the replies. He looks lovely, but then so would I with all that makeup!
