To be annoyed that my dc was treated differently to the other children during school photo day?

My DD was very excited on the morning of the school photos (She is very different to my other Dc )

She had laid out all her favourite clothes and hair things she never does that

That afternoon at pick up she was still upset because she had been told to take out her hair and her accessories in her hair. I mentioned if there was a problem the following day to her class teacher and they said DD's accessories were too clashing and distracting from the group (tiny daisy flowers and gingham ribbons) and the photographer didn't like them. OK right (indentikit kids, I get it)

I have just seen the sample photo and almost all of the girls have big fuck off gerberas in their hair or massive pom-poms on their bunches and there's my dd looking a bit bereft

I didn't think anything of it before and accepted what the teacher had said, looking at the photo, that mustve been tosh. AIBU to say something?

DISCLAIMER-
I know this sound like a first world problem but it's not the matter as such but the way my DD has been made to feel left out that has irritated me.

They all had flowers in their hair??

why did they do that did she have too much in there?

I bet she's forgotten about it now anyway.

yes- well no, not all but "things' that were very colourful and not incepting with the schools uniform colours IYSWIM

Ilovesooty- that's what I thought but she hid the photo from me so I couldn't see it (I found out from another mum) and she has been saying things that are a little out of character- she's been a bit woe is me, very unlike her.

I suppose you could say 'Oh I noticed some of the children did have ribbons/bows/flowers in their hair, can you just confirm the guidelines for me so I can make sure I do DD's hair appropriately next year so she isn't upset?'

Personally I can't even guess why they would have made her take out her hair if lots of the other girls had ribbons, etc, hence why I would just ask. Just because we can't guess a reason doesn't mean that there isn't one iyswim

YANBU to feel sad about this, but best find a way to put it behind you - and your dd. Perhaps you could sit down with her and the picture and say something like "I think it was lovely that you to took the ribbons out of your hair so as to not outshine the other girls. Look, when I look at this picture you're the first child I see; look at that beautiful face. You don't need anything else at all to completely steal the show".
