to be annoyed with rude train couple forcing me out of my seat?

On a long train journey and finally found a seat that was suitable, I always pre book seats and as I need to do work on the train this time I booked a seat that had a table so I could use my tablet. I also always book forward facing seats because I suffer from motion sickness and it gets worse when I travel 'backwards' so to speak and I really didn't fancy feeling nauseated for a journey of several hours.

Unfortunately on this journey my tickets did not have a seat number on them so I just found a suitable seat that was not pre booked and sat there.

The next station we get to a couple get on, his ticket is booked and is the one next to mine. Hers is the one opposite him. She asks me to move because she wants to sit next to her OH. I said, politely, that the seat I was in was not her prebooked seat and that I'd rather not move because I suffer from motion sickness. She was very rude to me and immediately starts saying that 'Oh yes I have that too and I really needs me to move etc etc'. I'm not feeling especially well as have a bad headache in addition to feeling sick so I just moved seats as I couldn't be bothered to argue.

AIBU to be annoyed? The train is pretty busy so there are not many free seats so for the next three hours I'm forced to sit opposite them Angry

Southwest Trains don't have seat allocations at all. First come, first served. If there aren't enough seats you stand, even if you have booked a timed train.

But wet to have just moved like that. "Sorry i'd rather not move, I get sick. Maybe Your boyf could swap with you if you feel sick?" Big smile, then close your else and relax and refuse to engage.

More fool you for moving. You should have just stayed where you were. How old was she 15. Not being able to sit without her OH next to her. We all want things in life, ie the 6 Winning lottery numbers, but we don't always get what we want.

Just to clarify Jessie, I wasn't critisising them for the paninis/coffee, just commenting but it didn't help that the strong smell of the coffee made me feel more sick. I realise I can't complain about that though it is perfectly fine for them to eat/drink.

I travel on the train at least once a month and have never been able to choose a specific seat, normally it will tell me the seat number I've been allocated but only after I've booked and paid for the ticket. For some reason this time it didn't but I booked through an app and so couldn't ask why but it's not an advance ticket thing as all the tickets I buy are advance ones and they all have the seat numbers on usually!

Either way I just couldn't be bothered to argue Grin

I have in the past reserved a specific seat, only to find there were no seat numbers or reservations showing on the train. It's very annoying.

I also like the seats which have the numbers on top of the seat, rather than on a screen above which doesn't tell you which number is the window seat. If I'm going to argue that someone's in my reserved seat I need to know which it is!
