to think a mum at my dcs school is not above everybody else and should have to abide by rules like the rest of us.

Nothing is being done about it.

A few weeks age a school mum was hit by this lady in her car- the driver was looking down, music blaring and she was lighting a fag, she clipped a woman who was waiting to get into her car- dragging her down the road for a few meters when she then fell to the side of the road. The driver panicked and drove off returning about ten minutes later. Myself and some other parents helped the woman who was hit and said we would be witnesses. The hit lady then had a very heated conversation with the driver.

Turns out the lady was pleading with the other because she had no insurance and explained that's why she drove off.

The mum is driving recklessly still and has not been stopped. I have reported her to the police and then have said they will get a PCSO to come down to the school and still nothing. Other parents have complained to the school who in turn have said it is not a school matter so they cannot become involved.

Is there any further I can take this? I'm bloody cross, what if she hits a child next time? There is a rumour that is unsubstantiated that this lady does not even have a licence. If I did this I'd not get away with it. I pay tax, insurance, to service my car.

Fuming!

Don't you have to be taxed before you can get insurance? Or is it the other way around?

Want2bSupermum · 04/02/2016 15:10

Report it to the police again. If they do not do something write a letter of complaint and send it to the police (they have a complaint system so use it) and I would also send a copy to your MP. If they still do nothing I would write a letter to your local paper about the Police not handling this seriously, although I doubt it will go that far as any MP worth their salt would follow up on this.

Totally unacceptable to drive in a car that is not insured or without an MOT (which normally invalidates the insurance). It is also an offence to drive off after an accident.

SistersOfPercy · 04/02/2016 15:14

Don't you have to be taxed before you can get insurance?*

Not at all. Imagine of you have a rather expensive car that is currently off the road. You would want to insure that even if you're not going to drive it.

MIL has a substantial collection of late FIL's classic bikes. None are taxed or MOT'd but all are insured.

SistersOfPercy · 04/02/2016 15:14

bold fail completely today

BloodyLary · 04/02/2016 15:15

Solid it is you that is coming across badly.
You sound like the snob and nasty to boot. How about you read the few posts I've typed properly instead of jumping in straight away to character assassinate.

It is easy to check if someone has not taxed their car- it's a quick click on a gov website with the cars Reg ok late. How about you stop for a minute and stop dispensing vitriol towards me .

I couldn't give a rat's shit if she's a trustafarian or if she's on benefits. What care abut is that my or my dcs safety isn't compromised by some moron who doesn't feel they need to abide by the same regulations set for us all.

barbarianMun- that's awful, your poor mother!

OP posts:
rememberremember · 04/02/2016 15:23

Sister - that will be because your MIL will have SORNed the vehicle. If you haven't taxed your vehicle, or are driving a SORNed vehicle on the public highway you automatically k validate any insurance even if you have bothered to get some.

rememberremember · 04/02/2016 15:23

*INvalidate!!

starfishmummy · 04/02/2016 15:30

If a car is not taxed anyone can report it on line

no one knows that the police are doing nothing. They don't normally give updates

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 04/02/2016 15:32

I think getting her kids to school and back will be the least of her worries when she is behind bars...which I assume she will be given the amount of laws she has broken.

Me and baby DD were involved in a hit and run that left us both hospitalised, the driver was eventually charged with vehicle theft, no licence, no insurance, dangerous driving, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, and failure to stop. He walked away with a fine. Angry

BloodyLary · 04/02/2016 15:34

Starfish- weeks later she is still driving.
The car -having checked TODAY remains without tax. They do not sound like they are being productive to me.

Joey, that is awful Sad

if you have already reported this to the police, which you can do if you witnessed the accident even if you weren't one of the parties involved, and they have not acted to stop her, then you need to contact your local police and crime commissioner by e mail. they need all the details from you and they should follow this up.

This woman is a total menace and she needs taking off the streets. we have a really good local PCSO. whenever I have had to make any sort of complaint to him - dogs escaping from gardens and killing my livestock - he has been on it in a flash. hopefully you might have someone like him local to you.

Nibledbyducks · 04/02/2016 16:21

I'm a bit mystified as to why people think the school wouldn't be interested, surely driving children around in an illegal vehicle that has bald tyres is a safeguarding issue! ?

LurkingHusband · 04/02/2016 16:23

Can't bald tyres go flat very suddenly ?

BloodyLary · 04/02/2016 16:56

Yes nibbled- you would have thought so!

MummaGiles · 04/02/2016 17:02

Call the police back, with her reg number and tell them she is doing the school run twice a day. They will likely position someone to catch her driving and then run her details to check insurance, tax, MOT etc. They can't just turn up at her house, they have to see her committing the offence which obviously means her driving.

Spudlet · 04/02/2016 17:04

Yes, this individual was driving to my mum's place of work every day, having had their licence revoked as they had dementia... Scary. However, once the polic knew the car to look out for, they were pulled over fairly quickly.

YANBU at all, by the way - just saying this was the approach the police took to a similar (possibly even worse, the person in question was totally incapable of driving safely) situation.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/02/2016 17:14

What others have said re car drivers being king in this country is sadly true.

A motorist knocking over and killing someone is invariably seen as an unfortunate accident, that was no-ones fault (or the pedestrians/cyclists fault) and the driver let off with a slap on the wrist.

bloodyteenagers · 04/02/2016 17:25

I cannot get over how anyone can watch another person get knocked down, dragged down the road and not call 999. Sounds like not one person called for an ambulance.

BloodyLary · 04/02/2016 17:40

Bloody- she declined one being called, I was trying to get her seen to, so my hands were full. I did what I could, in hindsight not brilliant I know.

OP posts:
SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/02/2016 17:44

You can still call the police now, and tell them that you witnessed the accident and especially that you witnessed her driving away from the scene of the accident - I can't see how they could fail to follow up a report of a crime.

I think every school run has at least one selfish gold star twonk,

Report her to the police before she gives someone a life changing injury.

Clutterbugsmum · 04/02/2016 19:32

I think you need to go back to the school, they have a duty of care to both the children of the parent who was driving car but to every child at their school.

BloodyLary · 05/02/2016 11:02

I had a chat to the lady who was hit and she declined again to make it a police matter- I did tell her that the car was untaxed- she doesn't want to get involved Hmm

Ive done all that I can- will write to our local police station today and track and record the letter. Car still being driven in this morning- after yesterday I was so paranoid I rechecked the Reg plate and yes its the correct one searched for before.
Thanks all for your suggestions.

Have you got a personal grudge against this driver or are you just extraordinarily self-righteous? Not only are you trying to involve EVERYONE IN THE WORLD SHE'S SO BAD WAAAAH! but you are now hounding the victim of an accident as well after she has told you more than once that she doesn't want to take it further. You don't get to tell her what to do.

Butt the fuck out. This is not your destiny calling you. Get a fucking hobby.
