to think a mum at my dcs school is not above everybody else and should have to abide by rules like the rest of us.

Nothing is being done about it.

A few weeks age a school mum was hit by this lady in her car- the driver was looking down, music blaring and she was lighting a fag, she clipped a woman who was waiting to get into her car- dragging her down the road for a few meters when she then fell to the side of the road. The driver panicked and drove off returning about ten minutes later. Myself and some other parents helped the woman who was hit and said we would be witnesses. The hit lady then had a very heated conversation with the driver.

Turns out the lady was pleading with the other because she had no insurance and explained that's why she drove off.

The mum is driving recklessly still and has not been stopped. I have reported her to the police and then have said they will get a PCSO to come down to the school and still nothing. Other parents have complained to the school who in turn have said it is not a school matter so they cannot become involved.

Is there any further I can take this? I'm bloody cross, what if she hits a child next time? There is a rumour that is unsubstantiated that this lady does not even have a licence. If I did this I'd not get away with it. I pay tax, insurance, to service my car.

Fuming!

OP posts:
JennyOnAPlate · 04/02/2016 13:26

The police don't need to see her driving it if it isn't taxed or insured.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/02/2016 13:27

I think that the OP could report it too - she witnessed a crime (leaving the scene of the accident) - and the police should take that seriously.

LagunaBubbles · 04/02/2016 13:29

Just saw your post about checking the tax!

RaspberryOverload · 04/02/2016 13:29

Laguna OP stated she input the car reg into the DVLA online thing and it's not taxed.

LagunaBubbles · 04/02/2016 13:31

Yes I read that after I posted!

GiddyOnZackHunt · 04/02/2016 13:33

When you spoke to the police, what did you tell them? That someone was driving dangerously on the school run? Or that a driver with her registration plate had hit a pedestrian, left the scene and then returned to plead her case as she had no tax or insurance?

RaspberryOverload · 04/02/2016 13:35

X-post Laguna, I'm posting from work in my lunch break and the server had a delay on it, so didn't see your later post.

hownottofuckup · 04/02/2016 13:36

Is the lady that got hit still not prepared to report it?

LovelyBath · 04/02/2016 13:38

When we had an incident like this it was mentioned in the school newsletter. Not by name obviously but a description

BertrandRussell · 04/02/2016 13:39

Aren't all the witnesses committing an offense for not reporting an accident?

But I honestly don't know why it's anything to do with he school.

skyeskyeskye · 04/02/2016 13:42

I would report it to the police again and state that you believe she is not taxed or insured and that she has caused one accident already, admitted she had no insurance, and what if she knocks down and kills a child next time?

If they get a car to sit outside the school then they will catch her for themselves! Won't have to wait for long.

Anyone can spin a sob story about why it's not been done, but if she can't afford to tax and insure it then she shouldn't be on the road.

CallieTorres · 04/02/2016 13:43

you can check if she has tax by her reg online?

Lauren15 · 04/02/2016 13:46

I can't believe nobody called 999 there and then. That's ridiculous.

SolidGoldBrass · 04/02/2016 13:48

Well, if you have reported it to the police, you have done your duty and can now keep your beak out. It's not up to you to dispense justice, and you are actually coming across as spiteful, officious and a snob the way you keep adding suppositions to your story. You don't know that the car is untaxed or uninsured. You don't know that this woman might not even have a driving licence. Bleating to the school and repeatedly ringing the police to say 'And another thing, I bet she smokes and is on benefits too' might even end up with you getting a visit from the PCOS, who will advise you to mind your own business.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 04/02/2016 13:49

My mum and her colleagues (team of nursers) have repeatedly reported an elderly lady that they see regularly as being unfit to drive and yet nothing has been done at all.

Sadmum19 · 04/02/2016 14:03

I'd report it to the police every time I saw her driving that vehicle. The traffic offences (assuming she still has no tax/insurance/vehicle in poor state of repair) aren't a school matter but the school should surely consider their child protection responsibilities if they know all this too beings that the children are being transported in that vehicle?

I can't believe some people think you are the problem here OP! There are reasons we have rules or we would have a lawless society where no one gives a damn about anyone else.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 04/02/2016 14:04

Solid
She does know the car is not taxed because you can check if a car is taxed online and she has done so.
www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax

The driver stated she had no insurance so that is not supposition by the OP.

Maybe you need to read the thread a little more closely.

raspberry no problem Smile

Pipistrella · 04/02/2016 14:19

I don't know what to suggest - you have done everything I'd have said, already.

This sounds appalling. We have our fair share of shitty drivers and bad parkers at school, but nothing on this scale.

Veritat · 04/02/2016 14:21

If this woman is still driving to school and the car is still untaxed, I would suggest you contact the officer in charge at your nearest police station to ask why they haven't done anything about it.

If the lady who was hit now regrets accepting the sob story, can she be persuaded to make a formal report? There were obviously plenty of witnesses.

Serioussteve · 04/02/2016 14:26

You can check insurance here - ownvehicle.askmid.com/

CombineBananaFister · 04/02/2016 14:37

I would be fuming too Op. Shouldn't it be enough to say to the police there is someone without tax/insurance and driving so recklessly they hit someone?
I can't stand people who do this as it's always some poor bugger that gets hurt or out of pocket not the lawbreaker who walks away fine.

angelos02 · 04/02/2016 14:39

I think getting her kids to school and back will be the least of her worries when she is behind bars...which I assume she will be given the amount of laws she has broken. How brazen to still drive to and from the school when she is aware how many people know what she has done?

SistersOfPercy · 04/02/2016 14:42
