Not a TAAT but triggered by a thread about some elderly people having opinions that we find quite shocking and offensive now.

What opinions do you think we have that will have our grandchildren and great grandchildren gasping and pearl clutching? :)

Eating meat won't be unpopular. It tastes too good.

JessieMcJessie · 03/02/2016 15:46

Gosh I am surprised that the Pro Life lobby is so vocal on this thread. Not something I had previously associated with MN.

OneTiredMama · 03/02/2016 15:46

I hope it will seen ludicrous that some people in power ever portrayed the poor and vulnerable as the villains of our society.

Agree with others about the way we treat animals and how much people use and over share on social media.

Twistmyarm · 03/02/2016 15:46

Home ownership will be seen as a luxury, renting will be the norm.

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/02/2016 15:47

I predict that people will be oversharing a heck of a lot more than they are now!

StealthPolarBear · 03/02/2016 15:48

I hope that abortion is seen as a right for all women. Not primary contraceptive choice, but there if she needs it. And she shouldn't have to walk through a crowd of neanderthals protestors to get one

MrsJorahMormont · 03/02/2016 15:48

Most of these are quite optimistic - I hope the world pans out like that!

I think future generations will be appalled at how wasteful we are / were. Food and water waste especially will be greeted with Shock

I agree with the running thing too - a physio I know said that running injuries are a physio's bread and butter and advised me to stick to walking and cycling.

I hope the next generation are less obsessed with slebs, wealth and vanity and more interested in physical health and aspiring to live a useful, balanced life.

MyAutumnAlmanac · 03/02/2016 15:49

All this is worth keeping in mind, since everything we express goes on record and could be used against us in years to come. Surveillance and info storage are a serious business.

PuppyMonkey · 03/02/2016 15:52

hipster beards.

100% agreement for that sentiment here too!

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/02/2016 15:53

Puppy in 40 years time hipster beards will just be coming around again.

TitClash · 03/02/2016 15:55

Free to access healthcare, free contraception and abortion on demand will be the norm in the US as well as Europe.

Child marriage will be shocking. They'll wonder how we condoned it.

bumbleymummy · 03/02/2016 15:56

There are some great ones here :)

I actually agree that we will eat far less meat from much more ethical sources.

I think smoking is definitely on the way out.

Personalised medicine is definitely on the way in.

I like to think that we will be much more tolerant society over all :)

Hopefully people won't be trivialising the holocaust by comparing it to abortion

Smoking is on the way out and will be all but extinct in the Western world. Will be popular in the developing world for a long time to come.

pushingupthedaisies · 03/02/2016 16:00

Possibly putting hair dye and such strong chemicals on your hair every few months, maybe more a move to natural stuff

JessieMcJessie · 03/02/2016 16:00

Thst cancer is a death sentence. Please.

Compulsory acts of worship in English state schools.

ClashCityRocker · 03/02/2016 16:03

I don't know if we will become more tolerant; I hope so. I'm not sure if we are moving towards tolerance - might be just me but MN seems a much more tolerant place than RL. Locally I've certainly seen racial tensions increase in recent months so may be colouring my view but I think society will always need a scape goat or folk devil.

ClashCityRocker · 03/02/2016 16:05

Well, not need, but want.

On the plus side, maybe it'll be hipsters next.

ChipsandGuac · 03/02/2016 16:06

Titclash, I disagree. I think it's much more likely that the UK will have privatised health care than the US will be free for all. And our Grandchildren will be saying, "Really?! You needed an operation and had to wait on a list for it?! And you're still alive?!!!" Grin

StealthPolarBear · 03/02/2016 16:06

Do we condone child marriage?

bumbleymummy · 03/02/2016 16:08

Pushing, there'll be no such thing as grey hair! :)
