I went out for lunch with my dd and my sister and her dd, after the meal I went to the baby change to change my daughters bum. Came back and my sister started changing her toddlers bum at the table. aIBu to think this isn't right! Go to the baby change for god sake. I said are you doing that there and she said yeah
I had to walk out with embarrassment!

Yuck, if a nappy change is available then you use that. You don't change them at the table, especially not a wriggly toddler!

Ooo no. I've changed my kids in the boot of a car, in the pushchair lying down, over my lap at a park on the odd occasion but no not ever at a table or anywhere else where there is facilities available.

Same with toddler pooing in a potty (routine poo, non emergency, not training) ... Not in the centre of the room with a big family gathering in full swing please SIL.

I don't think twice about changing my toddlers nappies in the living room but my other kids are horrified by it and say that it stinks. I think parents can become a bit immune to stinky nappies from their own kids. Not excusing it by the way. I'd never change a nappy at a table in a restaurant.

Gross. But then I even hate it when people put their bags on tables in restaurants.

There was a boak-tastic thread on here a month or so ago where MNers posted all the great places they'd seen babies/toddlers being changed. Massively stomach-turning all round. It is almost never OK - even if there's no changing area, there is usually a clean enough loo, a space out of the way of the public, a car...

To the young couple who took it upon themselves to change a toddler on the packed shuttlebus between the plane and airport at Gatwick last Dec, I still don't forgive you

I don't actually care if someone changes a nappy in my vicinity if needs must but when there is a suitable space provided then there's just no need. Especially where someone is about to eat, urgh.

I've seen this happen loads of times. Absolutely disgusting. I have never been at the very next table with a full view - if I was, I would have to say something. These types of women think its a mother's god given right.

There's a thread is classics about batshit crazy stuff people have done and one MNer went round someone's house for dinner and a potty training toddler was perched upon a potty on the table throughout the meal.

I'm surprised the management of the restaurant didn't throw her out to be honest. I'm not precious about where I change DD's nappy but doing it in the dining area in a place that serves food really is disgusting. I don't even see why she'd do that...she's going to have had to wash her hands afterwards anyway so why not take the toddler to the loos with her and do the whole deed in there?

I've on occasion changed mine in the pram (seat fully reclined) due to busy or filthy facilities but it's only been a handful of times, never involved poo and was hopefully discrete.

My SIL does this. Totally disgusting - and lazy. How do other people manage to find baby change facilities or somewhere private away from an area food is served. In all my time with my DCs in nappies I never did that

My Sil did this when we were all out for a birthday dinner. Changed niece on a ledge in the restaurant right next to a table where a couple were trying to have a romantic meal. Restaurant had proper changing facilities don't know why she thought that was acceptable.
