AIBU
I went out for lunch with my dd and my sister and her dd, after the meal I went to the baby change to change my daughters bum. Came back and my sister started changing her toddlers bum at the table. aIBu to think this isn't right! Go to the baby change for god sake. I said are you doing that there and she said yeah
I had to walk out with embarrassment!

Vile and lazy.

YANBU.

JemimaMuddleDuck · 02/02/2016 21:42

That would be the last time I meet her for lunch. Disgusting and a health risk. How embarassing for you.

Crazypetlady · 02/02/2016 21:47

Even if nappy changing facilities aren't available I would rather change ds in the toilets provided their clean. YANBU o.p

personoftheinternet · 02/02/2016 21:47

Yanbu. I remember being in a fast food restaurant sometime last year next to a couple of mums and their children. After they'd finished eating one of them changed her baby on the seats and then left the nappy on the table. Disgusting.

Crazypetlady · 02/02/2016 21:51

Their? they are.

AlwaysHopeful1 · 02/02/2016 22:00

Yanbu what a disgusting pig. Not to mention so inconsiderate to other people who had to smell that stinking nappy while eating. Vile thing she is.

hefzi · 02/02/2016 22:03

Surely, though, you pulled your sister up on this at the time, op Confused?

Vinorosso74 · 02/02/2016 23:05

Grim and unhygienic. I was on a 'plane pre motherhood and a woman in the row in front started to change her baby's nappy. An eagle eyed cabin crew member spotted her and politely pointed out people eat off those tables and could she use the toilet. She huffed and muttered then took baby away to loo.

bloodyteenagers · 02/02/2016 23:06

It's disgusting and no excuse.
There was a huge campaign to get breast feeding out of toilets, because would you eat were you shit?? It doesn't matter how big or small the arse is, shit is shit.
And the dirty fuckers who think a potty is also acceptable can also fuck off.

charliebambi · 02/02/2016 23:08

Well done diddly for making yourself look like a sanctimonious t**t

ManneryTowers · 02/02/2016 23:33

YANBU. That's grim. Although I have been forced to balance DS on the edge of a basin area to change him before, as the loos and baby change facilities at the restaurant cheapass hellhole were abominably filthy.

You just don't DO it! You wouldn't eat your dinner in the loo so why change a nappy at the table?

Italiangreyhound · 02/02/2016 23:36

YANBU disgusting behaviour and the waiting staff should have told her how unhygienic and off putting for the other diners.

clam · 02/02/2016 23:52

Gross. YANBU for objecting to that.

But I'm afraid YABU for using the phrase, "change the baby's bum "

Spectre8 · 02/02/2016 23:56

Yuck! For all the threads you get on here about babies pissing themselves or evening doing a poo mid change is enough to make me boak at what your sister did. Imagine if the baby had - how gross!

JenEric · 03/02/2016 00:10

YADNBU this is lazy, disgusting and totally inconsiderate. Even in the most dire emergencies you can hide in a corner and change in a led down pram or car boot. There is never any need to flash any kind of arse to the world.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 03/02/2016 00:43

Ynbu. That's the height of bad manners
Not to mention unhygienic. I mean obviously if there were no changing facilities then I would understand, but even in that senario. You would change them on your knee or a chair. Not on a table where people are eating

ProudAS · 03/02/2016 06:31

Totally out of order - some of us actually retch at the sight of poo and I doubt whether anyone wants to see it whilst eating.

If there are no proper changing facilities then use the car or the loo but absolutely not the dining area.

Lweji · 03/02/2016 06:40

You are both unreasonable for changing bums. Presumably it was nappies.

Did your niece's nappy have a poo or just wee?

Did you actually explain to your sister why it was better elsewhere or did you just walk out?

Topsy34 · 03/02/2016 07:04

Nope, its not ok. If theres no baby change, either find one or ask staff if there's somewhere you can use.

If its a messy t shirt or trousers, then i would change those at the table but not a nappy

kungfupannda · 03/02/2016 08:06

My SIL once started doing this in the middle of a very nice gastropub that we'd gone to for a rare, whole-family lunch.

The rest of us went Shock and then all shouted at her in unison until she stopped and went to the baby change.

There was a bit of 'but, but...' which was met with a chorus of 'NO NO NO BABYCHANGE BABYCHANGE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!!'

She did eventually concede that she might have been a bit unreasonable.

Diddlydokey · 03/02/2016 10:48

charliebambi

Shock seriously?!

Also, you can type twat on here. It's fine. Grin

Hope you have slept off your bad mood and have a lovely day.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 03/02/2016 11:47

Gross yanbu

WitchWay · 04/02/2016 06:49

I used to meet a group of mums from my antenatal group for coffee when our babies were small, round at each other's houses.

I was the only one who took the baby to the bathroom to change a nappy - everyone else did it on the lounge floor, the dining table, the kitchen units Confused

All of them went & washed their hands afterwards, so why didn't they take the baby with them in the first place?

honkinghaddock · 04/02/2016 07:04

I think it is fine to change a baby's nappy other than in the bathroom in that situation Witchway although I would always offer to change elsewhere in someone else's house.

charliebambi · 04/02/2016 07:25

Yes diddly
The first thread I read on here was about the spelling and grammar police. Totally unnecessary IMO
