in thinking that just because you have been on mn for ever

that doesn't make you a bad person.
MN for as long as I have been on here has had a oldie v newbie thing going
who really cares. some people post a lot, some don't.
but if you do post a lot (cos like me you might be stuck in a shite carer role) and you make "friends" with people on mn....you get slated.
all this royalty/oldie stuff is a yawn feast.... but in the 10 years I have been one here.....it still goes on.
isn't it time we all moved on?

:o no I don't Wink
I don't think some posters realise that even if they change their posting name, their posting style and language used is the same so it's easy to spot them. I suppose some of that is to do with being more controversial or having unique views Confused or something else to do with spreadsheets....

Samcro · 01/02/2016 16:11

oh I know. when I name changed I realised I could never post about one subject because the moment i did someone would say "oh its you"
(someone did when I made that mistake under an old NC)

Pbps & gfs love the weekends -their posts hang about for so much longer.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 01/02/2016 16:33

Yes, they have and that deleted thread was particularly horrible.

But there are still people on this thread going 'yes, bullies, mean girls' when actually they were feeding the trolls on the other thread with that exact same behaviour.

I think it's goady, tbh, to keep banging the 'mean girls' drum. No one on this site is above reproach. Anyone can be banned. And it's low for anyone to make snide remarks about 'bullies'.

HoneyDragon · 01/02/2016 16:33

I get away with murder on here and am unashamed. I fairly certain it's not because I'm a regular though..... I like to think of myself as MNHQs training regime. Grin

LilacSpunkMonkey · 01/02/2016 16:36

You get away with madness, Honey, there's a big difference.

Grin
HoneyDragon · 01/02/2016 16:37

True, I haven't got time to pick on people. I need everyone on side as I bring down the establishment from within.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 01/02/2016 16:44

I've been shafted by oldies and newbies alike. Its only the 'tinternet.

bumbleymummy · 01/02/2016 17:05

I did post at the start of that thread at the weekend but it must have gotten pretty bad if it was deleted.

Lilac, there are bullies on MN. It's great that you haven't experienced it but bullying does exist. I have seen entire threads deleted because a group of posters decided to attack one/two others. Those posters continued to post on other threads so clearly they weren't suspended/banned for it.

ExitPursuedByABear · 01/02/2016 17:35

Shame I missed that thread.

I like a good bunfight.

i do like all this "group" stuff....it sounds like everyone has nothing better than mn. often people just have the same opinion.
its like the old sn brigade(horrid term) used to shut people who have the same opinions down

OP posts:
LilacSpunkMonkey · 01/02/2016 17:38

I can only assume those bullies weren't reported then?

Because when I've reported shitty behaviour it's been deleted.

I'm tired of these snide posts about 'bullies'. That's very vague and quite low if you're not going to name names.

If you think someone's being a bully, report them.

Otherwise, stop whining about it because that whole deleted thread hinged on posters joining in to have a go at 'regulars' and 'bullies'.

Owllady · 01/02/2016 18:10

Don't forget the pc brigade

I don't know what a gfs is either Blush I'm not down with the kids. I still think sick = horrible/nasty, not that sick means cool
Though I think even the kids have moved on from using sick

HoneyDragon · 01/02/2016 18:11

Well a couple of posters were trying to get nasty .... Grin but thankfully MNHQ were having none of it and banhammered them again

If a thread was deleted by MNHQ for bullyinging than the bullies wouldn't be posting again, would they?

Do not take this in any other way than stated, but if I had a penny for the amount of times people state a thread was deleted for xyz reason and then MNHQ or the deleted ion message state entirely different I'd be a rich dragon.

It's like that poor op who was livid at MNHQ for deleting her thread, when it want actually deleted. I liked her she was vair gracious about it all in the end.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 01/02/2016 18:52

That thread was populated by goady fuckers who had previously been banned. It was designed to have a pop at a few specific posters and some people were stupid enough to be suckered in by it (or knew exactly what was going on and enjoy grinding their axe)
Anyhow I think if I constantly found myself agreeing with posters who keep getting banned I'd question if this was the forum for me as opposed to telling everyone they should change their behaviour

bumbleymummy · 01/02/2016 19:11

Samara, I'm just using 'group' because it was several posters - not just one.

Lilac, why would I name names here? They get reported on the thread, their posts get deleted but if a thread is mainly personal attacks and people having goes at certain posters then the whole thread gets deleted. I'm not 'whining' about it. I'm disagreeing with you that bullying doesn't exist on MN.

HoneyDragon "If a thread was deleted by MNHQ for bullyinging than the bullies wouldn't be posting again, would they?"

They were still posting on other threads even though they'd had multiple posts deleted on a thread for personal attacks - the whole thread got deleted in the end.

Owl lady - GF - goady fucker :)

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 01/02/2016 19:22

Hi bumbley, perhaps it might be an idea to report in with any specific concerns as unfortunately what you have posted here is all a bit vague for us to deal with. We can see we last spoke to you in July but we've not heard from you since?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cawstick · 01/02/2016 19:29

There used to be a couple of really nasty off shoot forums, peopled with some really spiteful and childish posters. I know because I have seen screen shots of them. Really pathetic, all congratulating each other on how they tag-team to force certain posters off threads. It was like reading bitchy notes passed around in class by 12 year olds.

Yet on Mumsnet some of these women were applauded as everything that is warm, witty and wise. Royalty even. But behind the scenes they were pure poison.

I think one or two were eventually banned,to the surprise of many but to the huge relief of the few who had been unfortunate enough to incur their spite {I was one of them}.

I went away for a long time and since I came back I NC most weeks. I think the very nature of Mumsnet means it will attract some posters who just aren't coping in RL for lots of reasons, so instead they wash up here but bring all their issues and problems with them.

bumbleymummy · 01/02/2016 19:34

Hi Helen, thanks for that. As I said above, the posts on the thread I'm talking about were reported and deleted and the thread ended up being deleted too. I was just mentioning it as an example of bullying happening on MN for Lilac- not saying that there was something happening right now that you need to deal with! :)

LilacSpunkMonkey · 01/02/2016 19:41

Thing is though, Bumbley, you've given one example. And you've said it was dealt with.

Yet every time a thread like this appears, or anyone mentions bullies, you're quick to jump in with 'yes, bullies everywhere on here'.

Yet you haven't reported in 6 months?

So you're not bothered enough to report but you're bothered enough to agree with everyone who complains about bullies and 'certain posters'.

Including PBPs.

Righty ho then.

Wombatinabathhat · 01/02/2016 19:43

I've been around for a number of years. I probably lurked for about 2 years. I don't post very often.
Sparkling I thought you had been here forever Grin

I don't understand how some posters can recognise others, who have nc, by their 'posting style' My memory is too crap for that

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 19:48

Just feels like it Wombat Grin
