Cuddling DD to sleep and noticing that MN or any other website won't load because the server cannot be found. Fine on 3G (no 4G here). It's EE and neither the standard nor the 5Ghz works upstairs. Not unusual. Even have to switch between the two downstairs. Anything I can do, 9 months into contract? I've got work contracts starting in April and May.

EE by the way. I recommend Plusnet all the way.

you can buy decent Wifi boosters these days, I work from home and my employer gave me one. its made a huge difference. they are cheap on ebay, BT Shop. eBay etc

I sympathise. We've had problems with Virgin all week. It seems to be working now but I'm waiting for it to go down again.

If you are having problems with virgin, ring and tell them the dates and get a refund. They will refund on a day rate

I could try a wifi booster. Surely I shouldn't need to though? I'm directly above the router and can have problems sitting next to it. We do live on top of a big hill. Maybe that makes a difference Definitely wasn't an issue before EE and fibre broadband.

I wish I could switch to 3G in favour of crappy wi fi. But we only have 2G!!!! I've never heard of wi fi boosters. I have a signal booster from Vodafone for phone signal though.

Welcome to the countryside... 2 - 7 meg is as good as it gets. We are in a fast rural area, but can't get netflix and those flashy ads will make the sites crash.

I have sky for everything at home.

I had a problem with connectivity and called them, it was traced back to BT and the mast, problem solved.

If its to do with a phone, Maybe you need to check who has what masts in your area?

We have an EE dongle, no cable where we are.
It is faster than our previous house that had Virgin cable.

Sky broadband is crap

Then it was my router
Then it was my phone line
Then it was bt's fault

It's still crap and they still don't know why -but possibly it's because we are using too many devices at the same time (3 on an unlimited broadband package)

I never use the ISP router if I can help it. Wifi boosters cut your speed and can make your network unreliable, I would either add a cabled access point or change routers. Both mean spending more money, but at least you'd have working wifi.

Are you by any chance on android? Setting a static IP could help if you are.

I'm not on android. I'm on the edge of the countryside but our broadband speed is high (don't ask me what!) I'm on wifi now I'm downstairs

I'm on virgin "super fast" fibre optic cable in the middle of a large city and its shite. I'm using my 4G right now as its way faster.
