The wrong fucking wine!!!

Ocado delivered the wrong wine today. I rang them 10 minutes later and they said that they would send the driver back within the hour to collect.
He didn't come back so I emailed them, they offered a 3 hour slot for collection which I wasn't happy with so offered 3 alternative 1 hour slots.
They have said its a 3 hour slot or fuck off basically.
Do I say ok? I feel really annoyed that they expect me to be ok with this but I'm being unreasonable aren't I?

OP, was it Lambrini?? Grin

stumblymonkey · 29/01/2016 16:29

The only mistake Ocado ever made with my shopping was to accidentally give me a MAGNUM of Moët I hadn't ordered or paid for Grin

SchnooSchnoo · 29/01/2016 16:33

YABU. I thought they normally just took it back and refunded it?

But what you should have done to avoid the 'no wine' problem is accepted and then phone them later to tell them it was wrong, and that you didn't realise until you'd opened it Grin

In Canada you can't even buy wine in the supermarket.

People always want to emigrate to Canada, but I just knew there had to be a drawback. I bet there's a similar catch with New Zealand.

kappadelta · 29/01/2016 16:37

It was a Bordeaux, they have refunded me and told me to hand back on my next delivery.

Did they charge you for the better vintage or was the price the same?

At this time of year, the vintage of wines stocked perenially by supermarkets tends to change. In some cases, it's just as the old one is getting good and the new one is not nearly as nice, in others, it's about time as the old one is past its best (I love a well matured rioja, but it can go spectacularly wrong!)

ExitPursuedByABear · 29/01/2016 16:39

Where can you buy wine in Canada?

What had you ordered OP?

YouTheCat · 29/01/2016 16:40

Use Sainsbury's. They would have refunded and said to keep it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/01/2016 16:40

New Zealand they're handing out glasses of wine like candies.

SchnooSchnoo · 29/01/2016 16:40

They should refund it and let you keep it. Or do you hate Bordeux with a burning passion?

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/01/2016 16:41

You have to go to a government shop or an off licence. Weird rules, odd opening hours, strange taxation.

YouTheCat · 29/01/2016 16:41

If it had been Chardonnay, I'd understand it. I got given a bottle as a present. I did attempt to drink it but 1 glass was enough. The rest went down the sink it felt so wrong .

musicposy · 29/01/2016 16:43

I think that's a bit shitty, actually. No compensation, no substitute, the correct one not brought to you AND you have to go to the trouble of returning it to them. No wonder I see all the ex-Waitrose/ Ocado customers wandering round Lidl blocking up the aisles discussing naice ham and the tills faffing.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/01/2016 16:46

I know there are better chardonnays. I know that people drink and enjoy them. I know they don't all taste like fruity, sweet, buttery, tobacco-oaked horrors. However I have had my fingers burned one too many times...

It's like here in BC. Lots of great German grapes. But I remember the 1980s and just the word, riesling, makes me twitch.

limitedperiodonly · 29/01/2016 16:47

You have to go to a government shop or an off licence.

That sounds a bit Soviet. I'm beginning to think there is something to be said for the British tradition of binge-drinking.

YouTheCat · 29/01/2016 16:48

Mrs TP, I am the same with Riesling for the same reason.

I have a bottle of something nice in the fridge that's been chilling since Wednesday .

Panicmode1 · 29/01/2016 16:51

They've done that to me before but have told me to keep it and refunded me the money. I've always found their customer services to be brilliantly helpful....did you go a bit nuclear on them?!

Potatoface2 · 29/01/2016 16:51

i like canadas idea.....no wonder alcohol probs are rife in the uk.!

hellsbells99 · 29/01/2016 16:58

Talking of Chardonnay, which I normally hate, I do like Chablis which is an unoaked one 😄

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/01/2016 17:02

Yeah. No problems here with alcohol abuse. Hmm

I want accidental Champagne. Where can I get some?

Chopstheduck · 29/01/2016 17:17

Sydney is the same - you have to go to a Bottle shop and they wrap it in brown paper bags - felt like a right alchy buying wine there! Except Aldi for some reason. They had wine that wasn't in a bottle shop separate from the main supermarket floor.

BlackbirdSingsInTheDeadOfNight · 29/01/2016 17:22

Ocado is usually pretty good at giving apology vouchers or even free wine as an apology (hopefully the right wine!) or at least they used to be. I gave up using Ocado two years ago because they got our order wrong virtually every single week, but nearly every time I phoned to grumble at yet another wrong delivery they gave us some form of apology. (It made the weekly shop a bit cheaper! Wink)

ouryve · 29/01/2016 17:42

I discovered chablis, last year. Lurvely, but gives me rotten heartburn.

limitedperiodonly · 29/01/2016 19:15

Yeah. No problems here with alcohol abuse.

Perhaps I should have put a Wink or a Smile or a Grin on the end of my post to go with your Hmm MrsTerryPratchett.

Or maybe a Lighthearted would have suited better.

Sorry, if I thought you'd take my post in the spirit it was intended. Don't fret. I won't make that mistake again.

kappadelta · 29/01/2016 19:15

Just had a call from a delivery driver saying he would be with me within the next 45 minutes - first I knew and to top it off we aren't even home!
