To steal Reddits AMA for MN

For those that don't know AMA is Ask Me Anything.

So every week or so we could have a new AMA. People could nominate themselves for the AMA and start a thread and any interested people could go ask them questions.

They are generally about something that sets you apart from the rest so "I'm a funeral director AMA" "I've been on a TV game show AMA" "I spent 2 years in prison AMA"

It can be anything you think people might be interested in reading about. Always amazed at tge diversity and experiences of people on MN, so thought this could be fun.

Anyone want to nominate themselves?

Ooh, ooh, Parietal!

I'm not bilingual. I took 2 years of French in high school (30+ years ago) and have only used it sporadically (think 'tourist French'). I learnt quite a bit of Spanish growing up in elementary school and as part of my job. Why on earth do I occasionally think with this small smattering of French and/or Spanish?

"Ou est my fucking llaves?"
"I wish that culo would callete his bouche"

Pantone363 I've got a question for you wrt SAHM.

Do you ever get really bored of your dcs and just crave adult conversation?

Pantone363 · 23/01/2016 20:27

Carbon, yes yes yes. Every day.

I MN, go on reddit, grab the postman or Skype/facetime friends. I'm on DC4 and so over playgroups (I physically cannot stand to sing the wheels on the bus one more time).

Poor DP gets bombarded when he comes in!

Love that DD is getting older now and can hold a more adult conversation, so looking forward to the next few years!

I love reddit and am obsessed with reading the "ask reddit" section especially when they're nsfw because that's when the interesting stories come out!

Pantone363 Thanks for replying. How old is dd and are you planning on having anymore dc?

Hesterton & across the pond - sorry for delay in reply.

babies who grow up bilingual learn very early on that different people have different names for things, (mum says dog, dad says chien) and can work that out just fine. They also learn earlier than monolingual babies that different people can have different thoughts. this is one of the reasons why being bilingual is good, even though bilingual babies sometimes talk a bit later than monolingual babies (they have more to learn).

Across - I'm not sure I know a good explanation for this. some phrases just stick in your head and you probably get in the habit of re-using them.

That's what I thought, Parietal. Guess I am just wired wrong after all.Grin
